Marcie turned back around, and for a split second, Morgan thought she saw a cocky smirk on her face. It quickly vanished. "Cooks?"

Morgan sighed and then rubbed her forehead. She was starting to get a headache. "Nothing. This is just a really stressful time, you know?"

"Sure. I mean there has to be a lot of extra work for you. Plus, extra stress on Mr. Slade."

Morgan eyed Marcie suspiciously, for a moment. The other woman barely ever spoke to her unless it was totally necessary. Why was she being so nice now? Maybe she had softened because Morgan was no longer the "new girl". It would be nice to have a female friend around the office.

"Marcie, I just get the feeling that maybe … I don't know." Morgan rubbed her neck. "Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems like Shay wants her old job back."

Marcie tilted her head to the side with a small grin on her face. "Yes, job."

Morgan was a little irritated by the way she had said that, but Morgan's words seemed like they wanted out of her. "I mean, I can't really be angry with Mr. Slade. He isn't my first. I had a fiancé for crying out loud."

"Fiancé?" Marcie stood up a little straighter.

"Yes, just before I started here. I mean it's obviously over."

"Huh."

Why does she look so surprised or shocked? Marcie folded her arms over her chest. Morgan furrowed her brow at her.

"What was his name?" Marcie took a step away from the sink.

"Todd. Why?"

"Oh, just curious."

Just then their conversation was interrupted when two men walked into the room. They were talking back and forth in a loud, joking manner.

"Well, I have a phone call to make. I hope the rest of your day goes well." Marcie abruptly turned away from Morgan and headed out of the room.

"Ah, thanks." Morgan stood there, just staring after the other woman for several seconds before deciding she better get back herself.

Back to hell I go.
