Chapter Seven

Tuesday started much better. Morgan double-checked that she had Mr. Slade’s schedule updated and ready. She made sure his newspaper was ready for him along with his coffee. When Mr. Slade came in, he smiled at her but didn’t say anything. He got straight to work so Morgan went to her closet-sized office and started on her tasks for the day. She was a bit disappointed, but after all, she was just here for a job. Wasn’t she?

At ten-thirty, Mr. Slade called her into his office. Excitement ran down her legs as she came into his office.

“Shut the door.” His tone was unfriendly.

Morgan did as she was told and then took a seat. He watched her intently the entire way.

“Ms. White, this isn’t working out. I’m afraid I’m going to have to contact the agency and get a replacement.”

“What?” Panic shot into her stomach. “Why?”

Mr. Slade only stared at her, narrowing his eyes. After several seconds, he exhaled a deep breath.

“Where was my updated portfolio for my conference call at ten?”

“What?”

“Stop saying that word. There, a sure sign that you shouldn’t be here.”

Morgan felt like she was going to vomit. “Sir, I thought I emailed you the portfolio.”

“You did, but it was missing the updates. I had to reschedule my call because I didn’t have all the information.”

Shit.“Mr. Slade, I’m so sorry. I must have missed an email from Tim. I’ll fix it right away.”

She stood from her seat and started to turn toward the hall.

“No. I told you, you had no more chances.”

Morgan froze and tears started to form in her eyes. This wasn’t the first time she had disappointed a boss, but it was much more than that now. This boss was different. She wanted desperately to please him and be around him. She couldn’t explain it to herself and she was sure she sounded like a damn teenager with a crush on her teacher or something. She simply couldn’t shake the feeling, though. Mr. Slade meant something to her, and she wanted his approval any way she could get it. Was this just because she was so fragile at the moment or was this true “love at first sight”?

“Sir, please.” She turned to face him and a few rogue tears ran down her cheeks.

She instantly wiped them away while walking around his desk. Morgan gazed down at him and her heart felt like it might explode. He slowly stood from his chair but didn’t speak. His green eyes flashed and his jaw muscles clenched.

“Please, Mr. Slade. I’ll do anything. I’m so sorry.”

“Morgan, do you mean that?”

She inhaled roughly. She knew where this might head and she wanted it. It sounded cliché, but in this moment, her whole being wanted anything and everything from him. In this moment, nothing else mattered.

“Yes, sir.” A few more tears fell, but she didn’t wipe them away. “Anything.”

Mr. Slade studied her for several long minutes. She could see that he was trying to decide something. One tear slowly slid down her face when he finally started to talk.

“Maybe there is one solution that will make me feel better and will make sure you don’t forget your responsibilities.”

Her clit started to tingle and her breath caught in her throat. She nodded at him, basically begging him now to do it.

“Have you ever been spanked, Ms. White?” His voice was like velvet.

Her next breath caught in her throat and she had to hold back a cough. Her eyes widened and she watched his face. He gave her no indication he was joking. She slowly shook her head “no,” wondering if she had really heard him correctly.

“Ms. White, I’m not like most men you’ve met. If you are to continue here, you need to know that.”

Her chest seemed to tighten as she watched his eyes. They held so many secrets. Something came over her then. It was fear, but also the worry of being inadequate. She hastily took a small step back from him on unsteady legs.
