My bones seem to shift and reshape themselves, cracking and realigning as my body undergoes its profound metamorphosis. It’s an exhilarating and yet unnerving experience. My hands contort, fingers becoming clawed paws, while my legs elongate, gaining strength and agility.

My skin, once human, darkens and sprouts fur, its texture becoming sleek and protective. I feel my face altering, the contours shifting to a more canine form, my senses heightening as I go.

The world around me takes on a different perspective. My vision sharpens, colors intensify, and scents become vivid, painting a richer, more vibrant picture of the environment. It’s a sensory overload, and I embrace it, letting it guide me through the transformation.

As the process continues, my human self gradually gives way to the instincts of a wolf. In this form, I can not only smell Alyssa and the blood but also sense her presence, her emotions, and the fear that clings to her.

The transformation is complete, and I stand as a magnificent black wolf.

My senses are immediately enhanced, sharpening to a degree beyond human capability.

The forest, once a serene backdrop, comes alive. Everything is heightened.

I try to concentrate. I can feel her fear, a tangible and heart-wrenching pulse in the air.

Each step I take, every breath I draw, is guided by the urgency of my mission—to find and protect Alyssa, to ensure her safety and well-being.

As I charge forward, the scent of blood becomes stronger and stronger.

My search through the darkened forest leads me to the entrance of a cave.

I know Alyssa is in there, but I also know that she is not alone. I smell him before I see him. A young blonde man steps out of the shadows.

His eyes glint with an unsettling hunger, and I know immediately that this must be Jake.

I growl.

Normally, my role involves negotiating and upholding the treaty between humans and the supernatural, but Jake’s actions have upset that delicate balance. The council is working on enforcing peace between us and the humans, but some of the factions have been rebelling, wanting to take the city for themselves. This has led to an increase in attacks, like the wolves that attacked Jade, and now this vampire who took her best friend.

My guess is that this was a calculated attack. The vampire must have worked with the wolves to orchestrate everything.

“Wrong territory,” he says, his voice a chilling whisper in the cave’s darkness.

I’ve been tasked with ensuring that we all adhere to the rules.

I contemplate returning to my human form and talking to Jake, but his blood-thirsty look makes me reconsider.

I am still trying to think of the best way to deal with this when Jake lunges at me with supernatural speed, fangs bared, and eyes gleaming with a predatory hunger.

Too late now! Jake has to die.

I rely on my instincts and strength.

I dodge his initial strike, and in a blur of movement, I retaliate with a powerful swipe of my paw. It connects with a satisfying thud, sending Jake sprawling to the cave floor.

But he’s not done. He doesn’t fucking back down.

He doesn’t seem to realize that I am stronger than him. Older than him. And more powerful.

In a blink, he’s back on his feet, his movements fluid and deadly. He hisses, and his fangs extend further, ready to tear into flesh.

I meet his aggression with a deep growl, and I lunge forward, with my teeth bared as well.

The clash of our fangs and the ferocity of our struggle echo through the cave. It’s a fierce and unforgiving exchange, but my experience and strength give me the upper hand. I manage to land a series of blows that disorient Jake, and he stumbles, unable to keep up with my relentless assault.

Finally, it becomes clear that Jake’s outmatched, and I wait for him to back down. If he does, I could let him live, but Jake proves to be dumber than I thought. He lunges, and so do I. With a swift, lethal strike of my paw, I tear out his throat. His head smacks the cave wall as his body collapses lifelessly to the ground. I walk over and savagely remove his head from his body; the only way to ensure the vampire is really dead.

With the threat neutralized, I turn my attention to Alyssa. She lies unconscious with bruises all over her body. Her dark skin masks the bruises a bit, but not enough to hide them completely. Then I spot the puncture marks on her neck, where Jake has fed from. Her heart is beating, but very slowly. I need to get her to a hospital immediately.
