They went out to dinner the next night to celebrate, and Lisa insisted on paying when she realized the long overdue back pay had already arrived in her account. It was a wonderful night, but ended on a bittersweet note.

Towards the end, Lisa mentioned she had started looking for apartments and Maya realized… she didn’t like the idea of that at all.

In the short time she’d been living with them, Lisa had become family. It had all blended together seamlessly and Maya didn’t like to think about her going. It made her sad.

CHAPTER 10

Rick noticed that Maya had been quiet towards the end of dinner. When they’d first arrived at the restaurant, she’d been her usual bubbly self. Something had changed between the main course and dessert.

He waited until they were settled in bed, so he could discuss it with her in private. He held out his arms and she settled into them with a sigh. “Okay, something is obviously on your mind, so let’s hear it.”

“I just want to help her.”

“Who? Lisa?”

“Duh.”

“Sugarbear, wedidhelp her. She’s got money now, and I’m pretty sure she’s going to get the job at the courthouse. I vouched for her and that goes pretty far.

“It’s not just that.” She took a deep breath and blew it out, looking frustrated.

“Then what is it?”

“Have you ever thought about having another sub? A second one, I mean, instead of just me.”

Rick jerked back, pushing her to sit up so he could stare her in the eyes. “Maya Aditi, what on earth are you talking about?”

“Some Doms have more than one, you know.”

“Yes, I do know. And no I’ve never thought about having another one. Are you worried that you’re not filling all my needs? What brought this on?”

“No, no, Daddy. Nothing like that. It’s… Lisa.”

“What about Lisa?” He was utterly confused. Did she think he was falling in love with her friend? Was she jealous of the time he’d spent helping Lisa? That didn’t seem like his wife at all.

“Um, maybe I should start over.”

“Please do!”

“I don’t want Lisa to go.”

He blinked. “I see… but sweetie, she needs to get back to her life. You knew this was only temporary.”

“I know, but I like having her here. It’s like we’re all a family and I—” She pursed her lips and huffed a breath before adding, “I think you should be her Dom.”

“What?” His voice cracked as it rose an octave. “Maya, what…” He trailed off and shook his head. The topic had caught him off guard and knocked him sideways. “I have no interest in other women, and we donothave an open marriage. You know that.”

“But that’s the thing, Daddy. Lisa doesn’t really have that kind of interest. The sex kind.”

“Maya, you’re confusing me. Why don’t you take a second to get your thoughts in order and then see if you can explain this a little more… coherently.” When she got excited, her words often got ahead of her and right now he really had no clue what was happening.

“Lisa is asexual. She’s given up on having a Dom because she can’t find one who wants to do just discipline without the sex.”

“Okay…”

“She needs a Dom to be happy. Right now everything else in her life is all fixed, so there’s just this one little thing keeping her from being happy.”

“Right?”
