My mates moved with ease, removing their clothing and preparing for bed without embarrassment or hesitation. Something low in my belly heated at the flashes of their bare skin. I stared hungrily at their thick muscles and sinewy, seductive flesh.

Not knowing what to do with the spike of lust, I turned my eyes toward my belongings and changed for the night.

The mattress creaked as I slipped on my nightgown, and I turned to find Alaric splayed on the bed. His arms were open wide, and there was a boyish grin on his face. All the tension in my shoulders released at the sight.

“Are you a snuggler?” I teased.

“Why don’t you come find out,” he growled playfully.

I squealed as strong hands gripped my waist, and I was thrown in the air before I could register what was happening. My knees hit the soft mattress, and Alaric wrapped his arms around me as Bishop sandwiched my body between theirs.

Wynn smirked from the end of the bed, but I sensed his hesitation. I reached for the bond, not wanting any of my mates to feel left out. His uncertainty ached in my chest, and I opened my arms.

“You’re not going to leave us waiting all night, are you?” I whispered.

He stalked forward, his eyes never leaving mine. The bed dipped under his weight, and I guided his head to my chest.

He gave me a panicked look. “I’m going to crush you.”

I pulled him more forcefully. “No, you’re not.”

A purring sound vibrated through my body, and it took me a moment to realize it was my wolf.

Wynn searched my face, eyes softening at whatever he found. He relaxed into my hold.

Our breathing synched as their warmth seeped into my bones, and for the first time in my life, I felt like I was home.

Chapter 14

Wynn

Waking up to Isolde’s scent was almost too good to be true. Part of me wanted to reject its sweetness as it mingled with ours, and the other part wanted to bury myself inside of her until it lingered on my skin. But duty called, and what I wanted didn’t matter.

At first, I thought my feelings were a side effect of seeing my unit so carefree with her, but after the night we had, I knew that wasn’t the case. The bond roared with a feeling of completion. Accepting what she so freely offered was the first step, and I smiled as I remembered the tenderness that consumed me when I rested my head against her heart and let its beat lull me to sleep.

I wanted her—craved her—despite my uncertainty.

My wolf growled his approval.

With one last inhale of the creamy strawberry scent I was quickly becoming dependent on, I broke away from the tangle of sleeping limbs, freshened up, and headed to my office. I wanted to contact my sister to make sure everything was set for today.

I knew Isolde would be physically safe in my pack, but there was no telling what other stressors she’d encounter while out on her own.

Winnie answered on the second ring.

“I didn’t know you were this anxious,” she said by way of greeting.

“I’m not. You’ll be with her. I just wanted to make sure you have everything you need for the day.

Her snort filters down the line. “Right, the oh-so-long list of supplies needed to walk her to the new pup nursery.”

I could almost hear her rolling her eyes. She knew it was a lie, and so did I.

“Whatever. Are you ready to go?”

“If I weren’t, we wouldn’t be talking.”

“Smartass,” I grumbled. “You know what I mean.”
