“Fuck, Helena,” he gasps, “I did not plan on doing that, I’m sorry, baby-”

“You’ve got to stop fucking apologizing or I’m kicking you out!” I declare with a half-serious expression.

“There’s that feisty mouth of yours,” he laughs as he pulls me up to flip me back onto my back. “I knew she wasn’t dead,” he whispers.

He moves down my body, kissing me as he does so, then sucking each nipple with a strong but delicious suction. When he reaches my clit, he almost becomes wild, giving me everything I haven’t experienced in over a decade. His fingers enter me at the same time as he feasts on me. I’m writhing beneath him, arching my back to meet his touch with greed. I try my best to stop the oncoming onslaught of my orgasm, but I’ve not had this in so long, and his touch is too good for me to keep it at bay. When it comes, I am momentarily blinded by a flash of light before me. My scream is almost silent, but it’s there, nonetheless. He doesn’t stop until I come back down to Earth, looking crimson from both my climax and my reaction to it.

We make love after that, gentle and slow. His first thrust stings a little; it’s been at least six years since someone has even come near me, so it’s bound to smart a little. But his touch is like electricity; he has never had to do much more than this to get me to climax. From Spain, I know he is used to a more vigorous sexual experience, but he still comes almost violently, which makes me happy.Stupidlyhappy. I then realize I’ve not been happy in years. I have my Jess, but outside of being a mother, I haven’t had a lot to be happy about. After we finish, it’s not long before I have a restful night’s sleep, feeling contented and safe for the first time in years.

Chapter 30

Helena

“Yoohoo! Sister-in-law?”

A chirpy voice sings songs from outside, waking me with disorientation and a desperate need for water. After I realize where I am and the fact that it’s now morning, said voice bangs on the door a few times and I realize who it is. Cameron and his wife, Lily, must have come back from honeymoon and she’s here to get my ass out of bed. I groan against the huge solid mass next to me, hoping she’ll take the hint and give up.

“Hels, get your butt out of bed!” she yells up and I find myself grinning over her persistence.

BANG, BANG, BANG!

“Who the fuck is that, Topolina?” Lucius asks calmly, without batting an eyelid. I giggle over his cool persona and morning wood, which is currently tenting up the bed cover.

“That’s Lily, my sister-in-law,” I whisper, “apparently they’re back from honeymoon.”

“Will she take the hint?” he mutters.

“Probably not,” I reply. “I best go and answer her or she’ll start singing motivational songs; she’s a kindergarten teacher, so she’s been trained to keep going until she gets results.”

I begin to get up, but I’m grabbed back by his strong arm and serious expression.

“Helena?” he whispers. “How are you, Topolina?”

“I’m going to have to pretend the great stony Lucius Hastings isn’t being a pussy, but other than that, I’m good,” I reply cheekily, to which he smacks me gently on my ass.

“Fucking pussy, my ass,” he mumbles at the same time as turning over to go back to sleep.

I shove on my jeans, bra, and a random tank top before checking myself out in the mirror, only to make sure I don’t look like I’ve been having sex with the love of my life all night. When I finally get downstairs, I pull the door open to find Lily singing at the top of her voice. I gift her with an exasperated expression, to which she grins. I end up laughing at her before pulling her in for a cuddle, feeling genuinely pleased to see her.

“Singing? Really? It’s Sunday morning and we haven’t all been in Hawaii for the last week,” I giggle as I lead her inside to the kitchen. I know her, she’ll be gasping for a cup of tea.

“Yes, but I know Jess went away to camp yesterday, and Nate told us about your migraine, so I felt it was my job, as your sister-in-law, to come and make sure you were at least pretending to function.”

“Tea?” I ask over my shoulder.

“Need you ask,” she replies casually. She’s a well-known British teapot who drinks at least six cups a day. “But I’m sure Cam will join you with a cup of black coffee.”

“Wait! Cameron’s here?” I ask, suddenly feeling panicked. He’s going to come face-to face-with Lucius and will no doubt guess as to what we’ve been up to.

“Yeah, why?” she asks, now looking curious over my reaction.

Cameron and I are much better than we were when I was married to Evan, but we’re still not the brother and sister duo we once were, not by a long shot. Lily has tried exceptionally hard, with Jess’s help, to pull us back together, but it’s been a slow process. Him, because he’s stubborn, and me, because I’ve been hollow and indifferent to human emotions. However, after last night’s admission from Lucius, I can’t help but feel a pang of anger and resentment toward him.

“No reason,” I lie. “So, where is he?

“On the phone to Nate, talking over some business thingy or something,” she says while waving her hand about in the air. “He’s also probably checking Nate and Bea haven’t killed each other. I take it you heard all about that?”

She’s referring to Nate being totally head over heels in love with his PA, Bea Summers, but deciding to treat her like a total idiot for the last year and a half. I smile and nod, deciding not to voice how totally ridiculous Nate has acted. Apparently, the male side of my family has no logic when it comes to the opposite sex, my father especially.
