“Yup,” Geoff assured me. “I just want to go home to my fiancée and forget tonight ever happened.”

“Fair enough,” I said, clapping him on the shoulder so hard he bumped his chest against the rail of the bar. “So, she’s single?”

“Christ,” Geoff muttered. “Yeah. And a little drunk.” His tone turned warning and my estimation of him shot up one hundred percent. It may be a little bit caveman, but I’ve always believed men should protect women when they’re able to. And this guy was very protective of his friend. Warning me that she might not be in a good head space for me to go hit on her.

“Understood,” I promised him.

He nodded then walked away, toward the open deck off the back of the room.

When I turned back to look for the gorgeous woman in question, she was gone as well.

Damn it. Well, if she was the bride’s sister, it wouldn’t be too hard to track her down later. I turned back toward the bar and actually jumped at the feel of a hand on my arm.

Looking down I found myself staring into golden-brown eyes. My heart about stopped. Up close, she was absolutely the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen in my life.

“Hi,” she said, smiling softly up at me.

“Hello.” Super smooth.

She smiled, holding her hand out to me, which I instantly engulfed in my own.

“Nice to meet you,” I said. I pulled out a chair for her and she climbed up on it. I sat next to her, so she wouldn’t have to crane her neck so far up to look at me. Though, when she did it stretched her throat into a long, smooth line and thrust her breasts forward in a very appealing manner.

“I don’t think I’ve seen you around before,” she said.

“Oh, um I’m a friend of Tommy’s,” I told her.

“Thank God,” she whispered, then her cheeks pinked up again. “I mean, I’d hate to think that I’d forgotten meeting you. Before. In the past. Somewhere.”

She was adorable. And Geoff had been right. She was pretty tipsy. Which meant there was no way I was going to try to make a move on her. Damn. That was a shame. I very much wanted to see her out of that dress she was wearing, no matter how good she looked in it.

“You’re very handsome,” she said.

She sucked her lower lip between her teeth and my cock went rock hard. I shifted my arm over my crotch in an attempt to hide it, but fortunately she kept her gaze trained on my face anyway.

“And you’re beautiful,” I told her.

“I’m going to kiss you,” she said, sliding forward on her stool. “But I’m quite drunk right now. So, I need to stop there.”

“Okay.” I froze, unsure what to do. A kiss was rather innocent, but she just admitted she was inebriated, not that she’d needed to tell me. I was torn, not wanting to take advantage of her but very much wanting to kiss her.

Before I could make a decision, she made it for me. She leaned in and pressed her soft lips to mine. It was short, and very sweet, but my entire body screamed at me to grab her and take her.

Then it was over and she slid to her feet and walked away.

And I let her go.

Chapter Three

~Ember~

“Did you get drunk and make out with Tommy’s Army buddy at my wedding last night?” my sister screeched when I answered my phone.

“What? No,” I insisted. I opened my eyes and immediately regretted it. The sun was streaming brightly through my window and it made my head pound in pain. I pulled the blanket over my head and snuggled back into bed. “What are you talking about?”

“How drunk were you?” she demanded.

“I think I had like three glasses of wine,” I said. “Maybe four.” Five? “Stop yelling.”
