I nodded. “Because my approach was too cocky. I’ll admit it. Had I come in with my dragons blazing, it would have been a much different ending. And had he sent vampire reinforcements to Deacon, I would have seen how fast they were and could have adjusted my fighting style. Hell, I would have had Giancarlo or Hexon kill him instead of me. Anyway, we’re getting off topic. The problem here is the alliance between Deacon and Ara that I’m not going to interfere with. And as long as Deacon or Elijah aren’t killed or harmed by Théoden or Ara, my alliance with him is intact.”

“This is such bullshit,” Elliot snarled.

“It is what it is. Tell him that he can pair his wolves up with my dragons for added protection if the war comes to our territories here,” I said.

“And what are you going to do about Théoden? Because I know what I want to do to him,” Elliot asked.

“After all of this is over, I’m going to let Tylendel handle him. It’s his duty to discipline dragons and Knights when they step out of line. As for Théoden’s brand, leave it. Doing so makes Deacon and since he’s Alpha–his entire pack, immune to dragon venom. That will work in their favor.”

Elliot’s eyebrows went up. “Oh? Really?”

I nodded. “When wolves used to be dragon slaves, the brand allowed for dragons to inject them with venom for torture and for fucking. It was one of the reasons wolves were made slaves. Dragons could feed off them and get a whole different sensation and flavor due to their animalistic nature. There’s nothing quite like it, and I’m speaking from experience.” I’d fucked quite a few of my wolves who were immune to my venom and the pleasure was always out of this world.

“Yeah, I bet. I know I love fucking dragons and getting your venom in my veins, so I can see the appeal. Okay, finally, some good news. What about fire?”

I shook my head. “Nope, that’s still going to fuck him up, which is why I suggested they stick with my dragons who can protect them from fire.”

“Okay, so venom can’t hurt him anymore.” Elliot was smiling now.

“I’m sure Deacon is clever enough to spin this situation in his favor, even if he has to go to war,” I said.

Elliot nodded as he stroked his beard. “Yeah, he can work with this.” He laughed. “Damn, baby, now I see why fate made us mates. You’re so damn sexy right now.”

“Maybe we can get in a quicky before the bloodshed,” I winked.

“When my cock is inside of you, the last thing I am is quick,” Elliot stated.

I chuckled and nodded. “True.” I exhaled and patted Elliot’s shoulder. “Getting back to your pain-in-my-ass friend. Perhaps Deacon can tell Ara their alliance is over after all of this drama is over. He upheld his end,” I suggested.

“I’m sure that’s something Deacon can’t wait to tell that vampire bastard. Okay, let me call him back and tell him the promising news,” Elliot said.

“And I’ll contact my dragon Knight.”

Elliot kissed me, slapped my ass, then walked off. I pulled my cell out of my pocket and dialed Théoden’s number. It took him four rings before he answered, and I wondered if he was busy or simply wanted to avoid my call, but knew he couldn’t.

“Yes, my King,” Théoden greeted.

“I’m sure you know why I’m calling,” I said. “Why did you brand Deacon?”

“I did so because he attempted to renege on our alliance, my King.”

I snorted. “The one that meant you’d come to his aid if he’s in trouble and vice versa if your territories were under attack?”

“Yes, my King.”

I chuckled. “Funny. I don’t recall seeing any vampires in Deacon’s territory the night I was determined to eliminate his entire pack and take his territory for my own. Was the alliance not in effect then?” Elliot and I had just discussed this, but I wanted to hear Théoden’s reasons behind his betrayal. Was it tactical, or something else?

There was a silence on his end.

“I asked you a question, Knight,” I said, because I didn’t like not getting an answer.

“It was, my King,” Théoden replied.

“Ahhh, I see. Were you hoping that I’d eliminate Deacon?” I asked, taking a wild guess. “Were you so confident in your abilities that you’d take me out, that you didn’t want to help strengthen your chances by combining your power with his pack?” I asked.

“The pack I had aligned myself with at that time was my own. I didn’t want to risk losing vampires helping Deacon’s weak pack against your attack when his defeat was inevitable. Had Elliot not been your mate, you would have won, my King,” Théoden said.

I shook my head, because of all the talk about integrity I had to hear this night from Hexon, it would seem that my vampire-dragon Knight had none when it came to what he wanted. Perhaps that was what put dragons above all other supes. We honored our word.
