“And why would I want anything from you after what you did to my friends?” Somchai asked.

“Their deaths are on your head, their blood on your hands. You and your friends chose to break the law, to be outlaws. Your rebel cell committed acts of terrorism, and by your own actions, you chose the punishment you received,” I said. “You were spared, because you are remarkable. A true leader and one worthy of the choice I’m giving you.”

He snorted. “The same one you offered Noel?”

“Well, Noel was very stubborn and I never made him the offer. I simply took him because I knew better than he did what he really wanted. You should see him now, thriving as my son. He’s the one who caught you,” I stated.

There was a twitch to his eyes, but that was all he was going to give me at that reveal. “So, do you plan to turn me in front of the crowd like you did him? And make everyone watch as I shit myself?” Somchai asked.

I laughed. “Well, that is up to you. Understand, I’m giving you a choice to make this easy for yourself. I’m going toEmbraceyou, there is no getting around that. Once I see a human I want to give such a gift to, I can't be swayed. However, you can choose to beEmbracedand a mild punishment. Or, you can choose to beEmbracedwith a harsh punishment, one that can last for days, or weeks… hell, even months, depending on my mood.”

“So… what? You don’t want me to fight you?” he asked.

“Exactly. Fighting only makes things more difficult for you. I’ve been alive a very long time and my patience for tomfoolery is very limited. You will accept the gift of immortality that I am granting you. Meaning, you will hunt, feed, and kill as your nature intended. You will submit to me and your brothers, because you are the youngest. You will patrol your district with your brother, Noel, and deal out justice according to the laws as your position of General dictates. All of these things you will do regardless, but you can do them without me forcing you to. That is the choice I am offering you.”

He was quiet now, mulling it over in his head. He licked his lips…oooooh, those lips will be on my cock tonight. He owed me for having to put up with Leona’s nonsense in order to get him. He swallowed. “Say I choose the road of lesser pain and suffering… what does that entail?”

Yes, smart indeed. “My sons are on their way here now. Once they arrive, you will be laid out before them and they will sink their fangs into you. Normally, our bites are extremely pleasurable. You’ll see for yourself when I take my fill. But when your future brothers feed from you, it will be excruciating. They will not allow their venom into your bloodstream. That will be your punishment. And once you have beenEmbraced, you will feed from a human and make your first kill.”

“Do I have to kill them?”

“Most definitely. I will not have a bleeding heart for a son. One who can’t handle his business. You will have to deal out punishments to others and show no mercy. Doing so will only open yourself up to be challenged. Others will see you as weak and I will not tolerate weakness within my ranks,” I said, warning him.

Again, he was quiet and I read his mind seeing that he was resolving himself to his fate. He didn’t like it, didn’t think he wanted it, but knew that resistance was futile. He’d seen the public tortures and executions. And bringing more pain onto himself would prove nothing. It was logic like that which made me want him so desperately. Once he was settled, he would be a glorious vampire. I’d never made one who wasn’t.

“When will this happen?” Somchai asked.

I looked at my watch, then back to him. “Within the hour. I’ll leave you alone to come to terms with your fate for now. See you in forty minutes.” Before I walked out of his room, I paused and turned to him. “Oh, and Somchai, from now on, you will address me as ‘Sire’ or ‘Father’ or ‘Sir’, do you understand?”

He sighed but nodded. “Yes, Sir.”

“Good,” I said, then left. Before I could get to my office where I needed to look over financial paperwork, my phone started buzzing in my pocket. I pulled it out to see that it was Tylendel, so I answered.

“Are you calling to ask about the taxes in my territory?” I inquired.

“No. I’m calling to complain about my situation,” Tylendel said.

I laughed. “What situation?”

He released an overdramatic exasperation, which was a bit uncharacteristic of him and made me even more curious about what had him in such a mood.

“I’m currently on my way to the palace of Prince Tarnus per my King’s and Hexon’s orders,” Ty said.

“Tarnus? The dragon Prince of India?”

“The very one who took over when we left, yes.”

“Why?” I asked. It was also no surprise that the two didn’t really get along. Tarnus tolerated Ty much like Titus tolerated me, probably less. Tylendel was his nephew, as Ty’s grandmother was Tarnus’ mother.

Tylendel sighed. “Nothing, forget I even called to complain.”

“Oh, no you don’t. You can’t call me and tell me that you’re in India with your dreaded uncle and not tell me why,” I prodded.

“It’s embarrassing,” Ty said.

“Well, now I must know.”

“You’re too nosey. I won’t tell you.”
