Ugh, this won’t be fun, but I’ll set my ego aside if it gets me another date.

Me: Hey, you know Raleigh from last night?

Lonan: Not really…

Me: She was blonde, brown eyes, super hot.

Me: We ate that burned pizza, I spilled beer on her…

Lonan: Oh yeah, why?

Me: Do you have her number or insta? Or last name?

Lonan: Why would I have it?

I grumble.Don’t make me say it, man.

Me: You slept with her last year.

Lonan: If I did, it only happened once. I don’t keep numbers for one-night stands, and I barely even remember that. Sorry bud.

Me: I took her home that night, but she snuck out and I didn’t get her number. If you ever see her around, will you get it for me?

Lonan: For sure.

Lonan: Not to be a dick, but are you sure she was feelin it as much as you were? Maybe she snuck out because she wasn’t into it.

Fuck you, Burke.

Me: She was into it.

FOUR

“Are you coming out tonight?” Sully peeks around the corner of the locker room. We finished practice, showered, and now I’m lacing up my shoes.

I sigh. “Sure, why not.” There’s no excitement. I’ve been in a sour mood since Raleigh, but I’m still hopeful we might run into each other again. I can’t figure out why she snuck out that night. We had a great time. At least, I did. Maybe it was one-sided like Lonan said. He gets around more than I do, he’d fuckin’ know. I’m starting to doubt I’ll find her because I’ve looked everywhere. The internet was no help. I checked all the bunny hangout spots with zero success.

“Sounds good. Oh, and Julia wants to see you in her office.”

I groan.Not again.

Sully laughs. “What’s the deal with her?”

“Dude, I dunno. She’s so damn flirty whenever I go in there. Every time she calls thesemeetings, she has nothing important to share and it would barely qualify as an email. It’s social media shit I don’t care about.” I scratch my scalp and scrub a hand over my face.

“Well, good luck.”

“Ya…” I roll my eyes and head down the hallway to her office. Can’t wait to hear what was so important this time.

“Hey, Jules, what’s up?”

She looks up from her computer and her face lights up. “Aw, Jules! You gave me a special nickname, that’s so cute!”

Here we go.

“Did you need something? Otherwise, I hav’ta get back, we’re running through video footage.” I point my thumb over my shoulder. We already wrapped up, but she doesn’t know that.

“I won’t take up much of your time, I wanted to talk about your social media presence.”
