She patted the edge of the bathtub and said, “There’s plenty of room, if you want to join me.”

Demetri growled.

“Demetri, the nurse went through all of my release papers. She never even mentioned we couldn’t have sex. I’m sure a simple bath will be fine.” She smiled at him and scooted herself forward in the tub to make room for him. “Plus, I need someone to wash my back.” She lifted herself out of the tub and arched her back so that her breasts were on beautiful display.

“Your tricks will not work with me. I am the tricky one, remember?” He pointed to himself. “I am going to get one of your friends. You will not behave.”This woman! She is trying to kill me. I only have so much willpower.He walked out of the bathroom and went to look for someone, anyone, to take his place.

“Caroline, Noelle needs some help in the bathroom. Can you help her?” Demetri grumbled as he sat on the couch.

“Uh, sure? I’ll go see what she needs.” Caroline left the room and Claire smiled at Demetri.

“Soooo, what do you think of Florida?” Claire asked.

“Hmm. It is okay. I have not really seen much yet. But it includes a stubborn woman who will not take no for an answer. You need to talk some sense into her. Tell her she cannot have sex yet. She just got home from the hospital. Ugh. She is trying to kill herself. And me!” He patted his chest.

“Uhhhh, ok, I’ll go check on Noelle. Niko went for a walk, but he should be back soon. Bye!” Claire ducked out of the room.

Demetri reclined on the couch and mumbled to himself about the stubborn woman he left soaking in the bath. It had been so long since he was with her. I spent so many nights dreaming of you and will not risk hurting you. I cannot bear to lose you already.

Chapter 44

FRIENDS FOREVER ~Noelle~

When Noelle came out of the bedroom the next morning, Niko was already up working on his laptop, and Claire and Caroline had started breakfast. Noelle took a deep breath. The apartment smelled delicious, and she was feeling so much better, even though her stubborn Greek man wouldn’t have sex with her the entire night. After she’d finished her bath the night before, she’d found him in bed, turned away from her and fast asleep, or so he’d pretended.

“How did you sleep, Noelle?” Claire held out a cup of orange juice.

Noelle took the glass. “Good! It was nice not to be in a hospital with constant interruptions. Thank you so much for breakfast, for cleaning up, for everything! You guys are the best.”

“Stop thanking us. You would do the same for us.” Caroline handed Noelle a plate of eggs and bacon. “Eat up. You need to build your strength.”

“So, what is your plan for today?” Noelle took a bite of bacon and moaned. “Mmm, I love bacon!”

“You like your meat, huh?” Caroline teased.

Claire’s arm flew out, but Caroline slid out of her reach before Claire could make contact.

“Caroline!” Claire rolled her eyes. “Sometimes…” She sighed. “Eli will be here soon to take us to the beach. Thanks for arranging that. You really didn’t need to,” Claire said with a huge smile on her face as she grabbed her swim bag.

“I wanted to. You guys deserve to have some fun. And Eli’s great.” Noelle shot a wink at Claire.

“Yeah, I think Claire Bear agrees.” Caroline wiggled her eyebrows.

“Ohhhh,” Noelle crooned.

Claire put her hands on her hips. “What?”

“Hey, Eli is an awesome guy and lots of girls fall for him. He is easy to fall for. It just so happened I’d already fallen for someone else.” Noelle grabbed a slice of toast.

“Whoa! I think he is a great guy, but nothing is going on between us. He just got over you.” Claire took a bite of her bacon.

“He didn’t get over me. He was never under me. Remember?” joked Noelle.

“That’s one of my favoriteFriendsepisodes! We should definitely watch it while we’re here.” Caroline scooped more eggs onto her plate.

“Yes, we should. I’m serious though, Claire. Eli and I were just friends. The very few kisses we shared were nothing. And when he and I talked, he said that last kiss, the one right before I fainted? He was checking to see if he felt anything for me more than friendship. He said he knew when he kissed me we were just friends. And we all know how I felt.”

“I’m glad he didn’t take it personally. Can you imagine how that must have felt? Kiss a girl and then whammo!” Caroline smacked her hands together. “I wonder if he worried you passed out from his bad breath?”
