Love. That’s all that matters.
Epilogue
GUESS WHAT ~Noelle~
Noelle held off telling her family about the engagement on New Year’s Day. She and Demetri wanted to bask in their love together, with no interruptions, before she left. Sunday morning came all too quickly. They prepared to be apart again too soon. Demetri planned to enlist his sister’s help with local wedding plans. Having decided on an early summer wedding in Greece, they had not quite six months to plan. Noelle would take care of the dress and some other details that she could accomplish from another continent. It would not be easy, but they would be together forever soon enough. And a job, well, she hoped her boss would be okay with her working remotely long term.
While she sat waiting for her plane’s departure, she started sharing her news. Her first call was to her parents.
“Hello, dear!” Her mother said. “How are you? How was your New Year’s with Demetri? We missed you very much.”
“It was amazing, mom. Can you put dad on the phone too?” Noelle asked.
“Honey, come here. Noelle is on the telephone.”
Her dad must have been nearby.
“Hello, can you hear me?” her dad yelled almost immediately.
“Honey, you don’t have to yell. I have it on speaker.”
“Who the hell knows with these damn things?” her father groused.
Noelle smiled. “Yes, Dad, I can hear you. Guess what, I’m engaged!”
“Honey, that is wonderful news! We are so happy for you,” cried her mother.
“Congratulations, Noelle!” her father said.
They talked about the summer wedding in Greece, and how Demetri’s sister would help with planning. After chatting a little longer, she gave them her love and hung up to make another couple of phone calls before her flight left.
The next call was to her brother. “Hey Niko, how are you?”
“Happy New Year, little sister! How was your trip?”
“I’m at the airport now, and I only have a few minutes, but guess what? I’m engaged!!”
“Congratulations! But if he hurts you, I will kick his ass,” he teased. She laughed and chatted a few minutes before she said she would ring him later this week to catch up. She cut the call short since she needed to make one more call and her plane would board soon.
The last call was a group FaceTime to Claire and Caroline.
“Hey girl, how was Greece?” asked Claire.
“Were you properly tupped?” teased Caroline in her English accent.
Noelle laughed. “I was thoroughly compromised. Thanks for asking. And yes, it was amazing. I’m waiting for my flight now. I had a quick favor to ask you lovely ladies. Can you free up your schedule for a week next summer?”
“Sure, what fun are you planning?” Claire smiled.
“Ohhh, a trip! Where are we going?” Caroline asked.
“I need you two for a job,” Noelle teased.
“A job? That doesn’t sound very fun to me. What kind of job are we talking about? A trip sounds better.” Caroline shook her head.
“I was wondering if you two would… be my maids of honor!” She quietly screamed and held up her ring to show the girls.
“Oh my God!” The two girls screamed in unison as they jumped up and down. Noelle wanted to jump up and down too, but she controlled the urge, since she was in the airport.
