Noelle: Thanks for a steamy evening. ;)

Thenext morning, Noelle woke up and found a text waiting for her from Demetri.

Demetri: Happy to be of service. If you need heating up today, let me know. I was thinking of going hiking with Yannis. We would be happy to have you and your friends join us.

Noelle bolted up in bed. “Hey girls!”

“If you throw a pillow at me again, there will be one less American woman leaving Greece. I promise you that,” Caroline grunted.

“Geez, cranky pants. I wasn’t going to throw a pillow. But I got a text from Demetri. Want to go hiking with him and his friend Yannis?” Noelle set the pillow back down on her lap. She was totally going to throw it at Caroline.

From the looks on their faces, Claire and Caroline didn’t seem thrilled with the idea.

“PLEASE!” begged Noelle.

Caroline threw her hands in the air. “Hiking, in this heat?”

“Pretty please!” Noelle pleaded.

“Fine. But you’re buying drinks tonight.” Caroline shook her finger at Noelle.

“And ice cream,” added Claire.

“You’re lucky those two men provide a fantastic view,” Caroline gave a thumbs up.

Smiling, Noelle typed her reply to Demetri.

Noelle: Thanks, we would love to. Please send details.

Demetri: We will pick you up at 10am. See you soon.

Chapter 21

DONKEYS AND DALLIANCES ~Demetri~

Demetri smiled when Noelle’s text came through.I am only taking her hiking to show her the scenery. That is all. No other reason.He called his friend, knowing full well he was completely full of shit.

Yannis answered the phone mumbling, sounding as though he was half asleep. “Why the hell are you calling me so early?”

“Get up, you lazy bum. We are taking Noelle and her friends hiking. I will be there soon.” Before Yannis could protest, Demetri hung up the phone.

He and Yannis showed up at the hotel at ten. “Yassas, kouklas,” he and Yannis greeted the girls.

“Yassas to you too!” Caroline replied.

Everyone piled into the car, and Demetri drove to a beautiful area to hike. The views were full of winding stone paths that went up the hillside. The men escorted the ladies to an area with donkeys.

“We will ride the donkeys up to the top and then walk back down. Is this ok?” asked Yannis, motioning up the hill.

Caroline did not look pleased. “Donkeys? Um, no one said anything about donkeys. I’m not sure about this.”

“But won’t it be too hard on them?” Noelle patted the donkey’s head.

“Yeah, it’s awfully hot.” Claire smiled, nervousness etched on her face.

Yannis patted a donkey's back. “They train the donkeys for this. They do it every day. Do not worry.”

Caroline didn’t look convinced. She turned to Noelle. “You owe us, big.”
