“No you wouldn’t,” Duke shook his head. “Not if you hadn’t claimed him. I’m not having you eat some poor Alpha rat on the plane or at the airport.”
“I think I have more self control than that.”
“Well, I don’t,” he laughed. “I might punch someone for looking at Cord wrong. Does that make me a cave-Alpha? Probably, but I’m okay with that. He’s family now and you, cousin, are so fucking on edge about him. Do us all a favor and go back inside and claim him once and for all. If he’s not claimed by the time, I get back I’m kicking your ass.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” I rolled my eyes.
“I mean it. Get to work before I tell Uncle Wrynn to call you and explain to you how to do it.”
“Dick,” I laughed and bumped my shoulder into his.
“That’s one component of it, yes,” he nodded.
“I’d call you an asshole, but I think that’d just play into your crude humor.”
“You wouldn’t have me any other way, cousin.”
“Be safe,” I said and meant it.
“I will. You don’t be safe. No condoms. If you use them, you won’t make a baby,” he said, and I bumped him hard with my shoulder again.
“If you two are done playing bro-bumps, we can get going before you miss your flight,” Liam said. “Besides, the vampire guy keeps saying to hurry back. He’s not sure of the timeline.”
“Ask him who he is!” I shouted hoping the vampire was close enough to hear me.
“Well, he’s gone now, and I have,” Liam flashed me a knowing smile. “Spirts only give up the info they want to.”
“Well, tell him I’ll buy him a ranch near Hemlock Mountain if he gives up the goods,” I said.
“We have to go and you’re not tricking me into propositioning a dead vampire on your behalf,” Liam said, laughing as he climbed into his truck and motioned for Duke to hurry up and join him.
Duke and I embraced, and I told him again to have a safe trip. Then I watched him climb into the truck before he drove away with Liam.
“Don’t feel so down. Cord is still here and so is Bobby. It’s not like we’re going to have time to hang out with anyone anyway except for Cord,”my wolf cut into my thoughts.
“I know,”I laughed.
Whether we were all grown up or not, Duke was still one of my favorite people in the world.
Chapter Thirty-Two
Cord
The cold shower didn’t cool me down for long. Blithe still wasn’t back from seeing Duke off when I got out of the shower. So I headed to the kitchen and drank the pitcher of lemonade that Starry had dropped off at some point. My dick was hard and my omegahole pooled with slickness. The kitchen table was starting to look as nice a place as any for our claiming vows if only my mate would hurry up and get his ass home.
I grabbed my phone to text him, but we hadn’t exchanged numbers. I frowned down at the screen and how useless it was to me right now. I wasn’t even sure Blithe had taken his phone with him.
“Blithe?”I tried over the group link.
A second later the front doorknob jingled. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and I grabbed one of the knives from the block. Its blade caught the sunlight.
“The biggest fake claw!”My cat hissed into my thoughts.
“BLITHE?”I tried again.
“It’s me, mate!” He called out as the doorknob twisted and the door opened.
I slid the knife back into its home before Blithe made his way into the kitchen. He didn’t need to know I almost had a panic attack.
