My name is a gentle moan from her lips, “Lachlan.”
I continue pressing kisses down to her collarbone and gently suck on her soft skin. My hard dick presses against her thigh as my lips travel down her chest. I open my mouth to take her nipple, swirling my tongue around the pink circle. My mouth pops off as I switch to her other breast. Just as my tongue makes contact with the stiff peak of her other nipple, a loud pounding comes from the back door.
“What or who is that?” Aislinn rasps.
“My guess would be Callum,” I grumble.
“Go AWAY,” Aislinn yells.
I laugh into her shoulder even though my ears are ringing a bit.
Finn and Chloe hear her yell and proceed to bark like banshees.
Groaning, I roll off her and climb off the bed. Picking up a pair of sweats, I quickly pull them up and adjust my dick so it’s pressed under my waistband. My hard-on for Aislinn is something my best friend doesn’t need to or want to witness.
The dogs greet me at the door, jumping and rushing toward the back door.
“Yeah, yeah, I heard it too,” I mutter to them as I run my hands through my hair.
I open the door with a bit more force than is needed, but I’m hoping to make a point.
“Yes?” I growl.
Ingrid’s eyes go wide with shock. She looks me up and down, giving me an accusatory glare. Callum is off to the side with a shit-eating grin on his face as he leans against my siding with his arms crossed. “I tried to stop her, man. As usual, she refused to listen. I had to come see how this played out.”
After a sharp glance at Callum, I can see the hesitation cross her face. Instead, she returns my growl, “You aren’t ready?”
“It’s,” I turn my wrist to check my watch. “Oh shit, 7:30 a.m., I hadn’t even looked at the time yet. I must have forgotten to set my alarm. Sorry. I will be out in ten. Meet you at the barn?”
She gives me a sly smile. “A bit distracted, were you?”
Chuckling, I reply, “You could say that again, but in a good way. If you hadn’t knocked, I would have probably called in sick today.”
Ingrid engulfs me in a hug and whispers, “I’m really happy for you, Lachlan. You deserve this in your life. You've worked so hard. Between your degree and starting up this ranch, it’s time to add a little play and love into your life.”
I smile into her hair as I rest my cheek on the top of her head.
“I couldn’t agree more. It feels like the right time, you know?” I utter, my voice catching at the back of my throat.
She clears her throat and steps away.
Shaking her head, she whispers, “No, I don’t know, but I hope to one day. Take hold of it, and don’t let go. Okay?”
I smile. “That’s my plan. I hope you get to know Aislinn, too. Sorry for barking at you when I opened the door. I thought you were Callum, and he was interrupting my plans for a good morning.”
Her eyes widen as she shrieks, “OMG, you were in bed! Oh shit, I thought you were like, I don’t know, making breakfast!”
Covering her eyes, she backs away from me. “Oh, rice cakes, that is a visual I didn’t need. It’s almost worse thanaccidentally walking in on Mom and Dad! Go, you big oaf! Tell Aislinn I’m so, so sorry. Oh goodness, she probably hates me.”
Before I can respond, she runs away from my house so fast I’d have thought she stole something. She throws up a wave but doesn’t glance back.
Callum watches her go, a hint of disappointment across his face. He shutters his expression as he turns and follows after her. Calling over his shoulder to me, he says, “Sorry again, man. Maybe one of these days she’ll actually listen to what I’m trying to tell her.”
I shake my head and turn around, closing the door behind me. Sometimes, I feel bad for whoever is lucky enough to tie her down one day.
As I approach the bedroom, I hear Aislinn moving around.
“That was just Ingrid. I was supposed to meet her in the office at 7:30 this morning to go over the schedule for next week. I told her I would be out in ten,” I grumble.
