“You?”

“Okay. I'm a little drained. I’m glad we only have a few more weeks of the tour. I could use a break. This one feels longer than the others.”

“Yeah.” I nod, I couldn’t agree more.

“Wes is…”

“Please don’t.” I break in, cutting him off. “I don’t want to hear about him.”

“Noted. I guess I should be going then.” He shrugs.

“Bye, Ben.”

He smiles, taking a step back. “Bye Abbey.”

I hang around the side stage with a drink in my hand, watchingKey Failures’set. I can see Skylar from where I stand, and I watch him perform. Sue isn’t wrong. He is cute and seems to be a nice guy. I guess I’ve been with worse. But I’ve also been with better- much better. Wes was better.

I glance around to see if I can see Wes. He is sitting on a couch talking with his band. There are a few girls around too but none that seem to interest in him at the moment. I wonder what happened to the girl from earlier.

I force myself to go back to watchingKey Failures’set. I sip on the drink in my hands as I move around a little to their music. I didn’t know the words but I could dance to any beat, so I do.

After their set, Skylar spots me and walks up to me after setting down his guitar.

“How did I do?” He asks with a smile.

“Great.” I smile back.

I remind myself I’m being nice to him because of the label. They want us to get close. It would make them happy, and their happiness might mean my freedom sooner.

“I’m glad you think so. Your cup is empty. Let’s get you a refill.” He says, grabbing my cup from my hand. I shrug but follow him as he leads us to the table of alcohol. He takes my cup and makes me another vodka cranberry, “Have you ever done ecstasy?” He asks, handing me back my cup.

“Yeah. Why?” I ask, taking a sip.

“I got some. Thought you might want to roll with me after the show. We are having a little party by our bus after.”

I laugh. It’s been a while since I’ve done ecstasy. “Maybe.”

“Oh, come on. It will be fun.”

“How old are you?”

“25.” He replies. “What am I too old to enjoy a good roll?”

“No. I was just curious.”

“It’s fun to cut loose sometimes.”

“I have some coke.” I say softly. I shouldn’t be advertising that I was doing coke, but then what did it matter? Coke is just a party drug. Everyone in the scene does it from time to time.

“I kind of figured. Your eyes were the size of pin holes.” He laughs. “I haven’t done coke in a while.”

“Afraid of coke dick?” I ask with a laugh,

“No.” He laughs with me. “Just haven’t done it.”

“Want some?” I ask. He is willing to share his, so I should at least offer to share mine.

“No. I want a pure roll, but you, my dear, are going to be in for a real treat if you roll and do coke,”
