“I don’t know who they were. They weren’t forth coming. I vaguely remember trying to pass off the other jewels as the Heart, but they had it evaluated.” She keeps her gaze on us. “I want to see Harry. I need—”
“She’s fine.” I take another swig.
Hendrick sends out texts, and I’m betting he’s checking jewelers and fencers. I’m also betting anything he gets back’s not going to help.
“I need to see for myself.” Magdalena shifts her attention to Hendrick.
He meets it. “She’s not with my people.”
“Mine,” I say. “But maybe if you get on your knees and suck my cock, I’ll have Carlos bring her to meet up with us.”
“Bite me,” she snaps. “Been there, done that.”
“Enough.” The growl in Hendrick’s tone is deadly enough to chill the air.
“I want to see my friend.”
“You’re not in a position to negotiate.” He takes a sip and looks at his phone as it lights up. “Tell Carlos to meet us, Jac.”
“My place,” she says.
“Yourplaces,” says Hendrick, “are wiped. I’ll drop you both at the hotel.” He glances at me. “The one I met you at.”
“Where are you going?” I ask.
“I have business.”
Carlos is at the bar with her little friend, but I’m not quite ready to share her with yet another person, so I take her in and up to my suite.
I’ve already called ahead for food and booze. I ordered a couple of bottles of bourbon and rum and whiskey, and finger food options from the menu.
It’s not that big a place, the fucking food options are limited, but we’re going to need to eat.
I lean against the door, observing the trolley with the food and the booze that Carlos must have overseen.
MG moves about, lifting a cloche and inspecting the sandwiches and fries. She takes a fry and eats it, then checks the balcony. The light of the dying day catches the gold in her blonde hair, and she’s sleek, slightly feral, a cat that’s been temporarily caged.
She’s got a lot to say, and she’s not saying it.
But that’s okay. I’m guessing there’s a lot for her to process, and I’m enjoying having her alone.
“Where’s Harry?”
“With Carlos. Downstairs.”
She starts for me and the door, but I grab her by the neck and walk her back until she hits the bed, then I push her down, not letting her go as I follow her onto the bed.
Hooking a leg over her I push my mouth next to her ear. “I’m not about to let you fucking go anywhere.”
“I want to see my friend, Jac.”
I lick the shell of her ear, reveling in the way a shiver passes through her, as her breathing starts to stutter.
“You’ll see her. Now that your boyfriend’s gone, I don’t use safe words.” I tighten my hold on her throat, the ticking beat of her pulse speeding up, and her reaction’s like fingers on my cock.
I’m not done with her. Not at all because finally I’ve got her all to myself. Even if it’s for a few minutes. No one else can open the lock, not unless they’re staff. Carlos could, but he won’t. Not until I say he can.
“Thing is MG, you’ve fucking pissed me off.” I bite her hard, sucking her lobe into my mouth. “This isn’t anything new. But fuck, wasn’t the money I paid you enough to just leave? You could’ve given me the necklace—”
