I shake it and feel like I can finally move forward and be happy now with my goddess.
The girl I’ll always love.
Chapter 35
Autumn
Hi Autumn,
We are all so impressed with the work you have done with your article on the Vanderville Manor.
I take the greatest pride in letting you know that the article will be released a month from now for the Chronicle’s Summer Special edition.
You should know that our dear Jennifer would have been absolutely proud of you. She would have been thrilled to see the outstanding journalist you’ve become.
I will certainly miss the energy you bring to our L.A. office but I look forward to catching up with you in New York when you start working there.
Well done.
See you soon.
Harvey
I scan Harvey’s message, cherishing every word. I worked so damn hard to make the article as outstanding as he said it was, so it’s great to see his acknowledgment.
I’m in my office, waiting to meet my father. He’ll be here in ten minutes so I need all the positive vibes that can come my way.
Zoe and I were talking about Dad when the message came through. She’s standing beside me. I wanted her to read Harvey’s email because he’s not a man who gives compliments away too often or easily.
“That is the very best message ever.” Zoe smiles, sitting on the edge of my desk.
“It really is.”
“The best part is you’re staying in New York.” She shakes her fists in the air with excitement. “I’m so happy.”
I laugh. “Me too.” I can’t believe how much my mind has changed about staying here. All because of the man who captured my heart.
“Everything is working out so well for you.” She gives me a hopeful smile. “And I couldn’t be happier for you and Luc.”
“Thank you.”
It’s been great updating Zoe about the events of the last few days. The best part was telling her about Luc and Dad. Their meeting was two days ago.
I was thrilled Evan was arrested and is facing all sorts of charges, but the life-changing conversation Dad had with Luc filled the hole in my heart.
I might have rushed to see Dad that day, but it wasn’t the right time.
He would have been busy with the team, and honestly, I needed time to think about all the issues we have to talk about.
The problems Dad and I have run too deep to be patched up overnight just because he accepts my relationship with Luc.
“I think your father has accepted that he was wrong.” Zoe nods.
“I hope so. I don’t want to argue with him today.”
“Do you really think there will be an argument after everything that’s happened?”
“That’s just the thing. I don’t know.”
