I chuckle. I never know what to expect with Sebastian, and that’s been part of the fun.
“Thanks, have a nice evening,” I reply as Paolo taps her on the arm to take her bags from her. It’s such a gentlemanly gesture, rare nowadays, with men acting as if chivalry died with the feminist movement.
As they walk away, I hear Paolo murmuring what we were discussing and Taylor mentioning Sebastian. His chuckles follow, with a comment about Seb needing help with more than just a party. It piques my interest, making me curious about what that comment means.I finish the email, check my messages, and draft my to-do list for tomorrow before texting him.
We still good for tonight?
Yes!
Come now
I smile at his exuberance when deciding how to respond.
Jinkies would hate me forever if I skipped out on her.
Not my Jinkies.
His impromptu claim over her parentage is witty and cute.
Glad we agree.
I hate it when we fight
We should have makeup sex
Come now.
I chuckle, gazing out my office window at the dust setting over the sky.
I didn’t know we were fighting.
We’re not
This banter could continue for hours if I don’t rein it in and get my ass out the door.
Good. I’ll see you at 7 pm. Do I need to pick up dinner?
No
Ms Martha made dinner
See you at 6:30
I bite my lip, considering whether to correct him, but I let it slide this time. Arguing with Seb can be a never-ending affair, and I’d rather spend some quality snuggle time with Jinkies. I didn’t spend much time with her yesterday, and I know I won’t be around much tonight.
With renewed energy, I shut my computer down, pack up, and hurry out of the office. When I walk through my apartment door, Jinkies meows loudly and weaves her body between my legs. I quickly change into more comfortable clothes and take a moment to give Jinkies the attention she deserves. She purrs contentedly as I pet her, and I promise her some extra playtime later to make up for being busy before heading out the door.
I make it to Sebastian’s house right on time. He throws open the door, looking much better than he did at lunch, and I’m relieved. The rush of warm air welcomes me inside from the cold winter night, and I haven’t yet taken my coat off when a delicious aroma hits me.
“Hi.”
His lips brush my neck when he hugs me. The sensation sends shivers down my spine, and if he weren’t feeling unwell from today, I’d have another go with him upstairs.
“Hi yourself.”
I brush my face against him, trying to capture his lips when he releases me.
“Something smells delicious.”
