Gia reentered the room with a large bag over her shoulder, dressed in casual Capri pants and a black leotard. Hart noticed right away she had put on makeup, looking refreshed after the long night and morning. It had to be hard for her to go back to work, knowing she was closing up her business in a couple of weeks. He went to her, pulling her affectionately to his side. “You got everything you need?” he asked sweetly, aware his sister and Clay were watching them.

“Yes. I’ll be back in a few hours.”

Hart kissed her on the cheek. “I’m gonna walk you out.”

“See ya tonight, Gia,” Clay shouted.

“Yes, see you tonight!” Katie exclaimed.

When they were outside by Gia’s car, Hart pushed her gently up against the driver’s side door and used his fingers as a comb through the side of her hair. “I’m gonna miss you.”

Her blue eyes slightly misted as she stared into his face. “I’m gonna miss you too. We still have a lot to talk about.”

Hart nodded in agreement. “I know. I want to go back to that pawn shop and get your ring back.”

“Hart…”

“No, Gia. I won’t take no for an answer. It’s something I feel very strongly about.” He kissed her forehead.

“Okay,” she whispered.

“Okay? You’re not gonna argue with me or go sell a kidney or something crazy to get the money?” His teasing made her giggle.

“No. I’m not going to argue. I’ll have to come with you though. The owner gave me until the end of business on Monday.” Nodding, he looked down at her and brushed his fingertips across her cheek. “I love you, Hart. I’ll do whatever you want.”

His eyebrow arched and he cocked his head. “Anything I want? Now that, sweetheart, could be very interesting.”
