“What do you mean?”
“With your schoolwork, the gym, hockey practice, you have very little free time, and yet you’re choosing to spend what little time you have with a girl you claim is only a friend? I have a hard time believing that.”
I let out a sigh. “Okay, fine. The truth is, I’m helping her. That’s why I’m going to see her all the time. She’s struggling in school so I’m helping her out.”
“So you’re tutoring her,” he says, sounding skeptical.
“Yeah. I’m hoping if she gets her grades up, she’ll consider taking some classes next fall at the community college.”
“What are her plans for next year?”
“To keep working at the diner. But she can do a lot better. I’m trying to help her see that.” I pick up my gym bag. “I need to go study, and then I’m going to see her. I told her I’d help her study for a test.”
“Your mother is expecting you at dinner.”
“Then I’ll leave after dinner.”
I take off before he can ask me anything else. I call Nova and tell her I’ll be over at 7. We’ll only have a couple hours together, but it’s better than nothing.
* * *
“I want to stay.”I pull Nova against my chest and kiss her forehead.
“You can’t. You have to go.”
“But this is so much better. Watching movies in bed. Holding you. And the sex… fucking amazing.”
She looks up at me and smiles. “It is really good. All of it.”
When I got here at seven, Nova and I went straight to her room. Our clothes were off within seconds. We did it twice. The first time she was on my lap, riding me and giving me a show as her tits bounced around. The second time I started from behind, then flipped her over to finish. I’m trying to learn what she likes, what makes her come the hardest.
“How’d you get out of being grounded?” Nova asks.
“I don’t want to talk about my parents. It’ll ruin my good mood.”
“Are you still fighting with them?”
“No, at least not right now.”
“So you can come back tomorrow?”
“Yeah, but I’m not sure about the rest of the week. My grandparents are coming Tuesday and I have to do all this family stuff the rest of the week.”
“Oh,” she says, sounding disappointed. “Okay.”
“Hey.” I lift her face to mine. “I’ll do everything I can to get back here. I can’t go all week without seeing you. I just can’t see you Thursday since it’s Thanksgiving. And I can’t call you until that night. My mom takes our phones so we won’t be looking at them during dinner and the family activities she has planned.”
“What happens on Friday?”
“The stereotypical Friday after Thanksgiving. The men watch football and the women go shopping. What are you and Ted doing?”
“Nothing. Holidays for us are just like any other day. I’ll make Ted his meals and then just hang out in my room.”
“I could get you a turkey.”
She smiles. ”Thanks, but I don’t want a turkey. I don’t want to have to cook it. The diner is doing a turkey dinner this week. I might bring one home on Wednesday and have that on Thanksgiving. I can get it for half off, or maybe Lenny will be nice for once and give it to me for free.” She sits up. “Hey, isn’t your first hockey game this week?”
“The following week.”
