Audrina’s eyes look wet as she stares at me. “What do you mean? I didn’t think he had that much money to hold from me.”
I smirk and settle back in my chair, mainly because I need the space between us to do my job. Jesus.
The fact that in my hands is enough information to bury her ex gets me high. This is why I love this job and am good at it.
“Audrina, Derek has stashed over six million dollars in foreign bank accounts.” I slide the paperwork across the desk for her to look at them.
With trepidation, she lightly grabs them. “Why is my name on these?”
I can feel the understanding waft off of her as she comes into the know about how big of a dick bag her soon-to-be ex-husband is. “These are the accounts that have been opened in your name. And these,” I slide over some more papers, “are the accounts he has opened in his name since you were married.”
With the short amount of time I have had to access these records, I have found a total of ten accounts that have beenopened between the two of them. Six of these accounts are opened just under Audrina’s name.
“I don’t understand,” she murmurs, tears rolling down her eyes.
“I think you do understand.”
“He… he opened these accounts in my name and has been hiding money in these accounts from me?”
I click my tongue. “Yes.”
Her fist balls up and crinkles the paper in her hands. I see the rage and utter sadness flow through her as she processes what I have just said.
“What does this mean for the divorce?”
I smile trying to ease her mind a little. “This means we have a way in.”
Chapter Five
Audrina
Stavros is surprisingly something I didn’t expect. Of course, this was my first time discussing divorce proceedings with someone, and my expectations weren’t very high.
His eyes glimmer under the lights, giving him just enough sparkle. His full lips are curved to make him look like the legend he is.
I have heard Andreas talking about Stavros in the past, being a monster in the courtroom, but I would never have thought I would need him. Now that I know what I know, I realize I need him even more than I initially thought.
“What’s next?” I ask with my head spinning. All my emotions flew everywhere, and I wondered how I could have been so blind. How could I have not seen this from the beginning?
Was everything a lie?
Stavros easily removes his suit jacket and wheels his chair back to the hook behind him. His shirt does nothing to hold the image now burned in my memory.
His arms, chest, and broad shoulders stretch his shirt's beautiful fabric just enough for me to see the definition of muscle. I watch his hands as he grabs a pad of paper and a penfrom the desk to start writing something down and see the glint of diamonds in the light hit his cuff links.
“I will speak to his attorney and see if we can make a deal outside court. If we can, we won’t need to go to court and can finish everything through a mediator. Judging by this prenup and the information I found, I doubt we will be that lucky.”
“I’m sorry,” I whisper and look away from him. I need to hide the shame I feel for being so stupid.
Could I be implicated if any of these deals are bad? Could I go to jail for not knowing about this? How many more accounts does he have in my name? Where is all the money coming from?
I’ve worked as a secretary for a doctor’s office, but that pays for my bills and gives me a little extra to spend on stuff I want.
His hand lifts and comes down hard on the desk before me, snapping me out of my pity party. I think I’m allowed to have a pitiful party.
I’m getting divorced. I just found out that my husband has a bunch of accounts, and some are in my name. Plus, on one of the worst days of my life, I’m face to face with a real-life version of Adonis.
Stavros waits until my eyes meet his. “One, don’t apologize for this. Did you know about these accounts?”
