“They’ll kill me.” He sobs.
“Ahh, sugar, you’re already dead. The only thing you’ll change by talking is how long before you take your last breath and how painful it has to be. Tell me what I ask, and I’ll make it real fast, sugar!”
He closes his eyes. “I thought we had something? What happened to you?”
“Ah, sugar, there ain't time for my life story. The bit you can have is we fucked, we lost touch, I found you, you die, the end!”
“Okay!” he shakes out.
“Okay?” I’ve been at this for a good six, maybe even eight hours or so, and my boys have woken, kind of and passed out again from possible sheer exhaustion and the cocktail of drugs, probably. I just want to hold my husband, but this motherfucker is dragging this out!
“I work for The Armoury.” He sighs, and as I slam the knife into his thigh, he screams, “I do… I just work for Dante Crane, too!” He screws his eyes up and lets out a shaky breath, followed by a sob as tears roll down his face. “Dante recruited me a year ago. I don’t know why he wanted the Reapers. My team thinks they work for The Armoury. I don’t know anything. He just gives my team jobs, and we do what he says.”
“What does Dante have you do?” I ask in my normal accent, and his eyes bug out of his head. “Gerald?” I snap.
“Normally just stalking, kidnapping or security for important people so he can get something on them, and I inform him on The Armoury. That’s all I know. I swear that’s all I know!”
“You sure?”
He nods and then closes his eyes. While his eyes are closed, I hit him with another tranq dart, and his eyes bug out again as he cries out.
“See you on the other side, sugar!” I wink. He’s still a handsome guy, the kind of guy I used to fall for before I quit guys and had whatever it was I had with Jer. Gerald is the kind of guy I thought I wanted, I thought he would accept me, but he never knew me. He knew her, Madison, fucking Madison. We met a long time ago, a different life ago, a different person or ten ago. He served his purpose back then, but now he doesn't have a purpose. He’s surplus to requirements. Once he’s out again, I lower the table and drag him back to the cell.
“You’re not gonna kill him?”
“Not yet!”
Stalking out of the room, I lock up and head towards home. I log into my app on the phone and bring up the CCTV of my office so I can listen and watch.
Dice
I can feel his breath on my face, the heat of his body against mine, his hazel eyes and dirty blonde hair. He’s been haunting my dreams for a while now. I can never quite place him when I wake. He’s so real, so familiar, but also not. This feels more real today, though. I shuffle closer to his heat while I still can. Once I wake, I know he will be gone.
I reach out and groan as I feel his hard abs under my fingers as I slide my hand up his chest. I can almost feel his muscles bunching under my touch. I slide closer to him. I rest my head on his chest, sliding my hand back down his abs, hitting the waistband of his boxer shorts. I slide my leg up his leg and over his hip, grinding myself into him.
I feel a hand slide up my arm and neck, cupping my cheek. “Dice?” His voice almost questions me. “Dice, can you hear me?”
“Mmhmm.” I nod and then sigh. I’m so content I’m not sure I want to wake up.
I feel a hand slide down my cheek to cup my jaw, “Dice? Hey, Dice.”
I freeze, my eyes fly open, and I gasp as a look of concern crosses his face. “What the fuck? I scurry back like I’ve been burned.
“Hey, Dice, it’s okay. You're safe. It’s me, Dane, I’m here!”
I slide up, slamming my back against the headboard, and let out a shaky breath, screwing my eyes up and scrubbing a hand down my face. “What are you doing here? What happened?”
“What do you remember?”
“Did we…?” I trail off, slightly panicked. Shit, if I fucked Ray’s brother, she’s gonna string me up.
“No! …Dice, what's the last thing you can remember?”
“Erm… the meeting with The Armoury… I don’t remember anything after that.”
Nodding, he sighs. “They weren’t The Armoury! Whoever they were, they drugged you all and took you.” He pauses as if he’s looking for the right words. “They sent a video of Steel and Dozer to Ray and Beauty of them with a woman… Ray lost her shit and came and got you all, but you were all out of it, so I had to stay with you to make sure you were okay. We got you back yesterday.”
“Shit!”
