Chapter 23
I grip the file folder in my hand, a huge smile on my face, as I walk through the garage and into the house. Construction is completely done, so Alex and Mac are working from home today in their home offices, and Ben is on his way home. Alex and Mac officially moved in last weekend, and it’s been a blast having them around more often. The guys have been pulling many three-day weekends as of late, which is convenient since they’re their own bosses. Colin comes out of the original office, an empty mug in his hand.
“Hey, baby,” he says, leaning over to kiss me, the taste of coffee on his lips. “Where’d you disappear this morning? I thought you were off today?”
I grin at him. “It’s a surprise.”
His gaze lands on the folder at my side. “What’s that?”
“The surprise,” I say, my smile growing.
“Should we rally up the guys?” he asks.
I nod. “You do that, I’m getting the champagne.”
Colin’s eyes sparkle with excitement, just as Ben walks in the door.
“No more driving with Colin,” he says. “He’s a bad influence, I couldn’t keep up with you.”
“Not my fault Colin has such fast cars!” I say over my head as I walk over to the bar to grab a bottle of champagne. I had passed by Ben on the interstate on my drive home, so excited to reveal my surprise. “Don’t go anywhere Ben, I’ve got a surprise for everyone.”
“Oh,” Ben says, dropping his keys on the counter and rubbing his hands together. “Is it something kinky? Please let it be kinky.”
I roll my eyes at that, placing the file holder on the counter next to the champagne as Colin tells the guys to meet in the kitchen over the intercom. “It’s not kinky, but you’ll probably want to lick my pussy until I scream your name after.”
His jaw drops, and he darts over to me, his fingers reaching to unbutton my jeans.
I stop his hand and playfully push him away. “Not yet,” I say. “After!”
He groans and drops his hands. “Fine. If you insist.”
Mac and Alex join us in the kitchen, and Colin takes a seat at the island. Mac crosses his arms over his chest, waiting, like I’m about to drop a bomb. Maybe I am.
I take a deep breath in, and let it out. Even Mr. Snuffy has skittered into the kitchen to join the family meeting. Alex gives him a pat on the head before leaning his arms on the island.
“So, I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while now,” I start. “Basically, my whole adult life.”
“You’re not starting an OnlyFans,” Ben growls. “We’re your only fans. Colin won’t want other men watching you. Right, Colin?”
“Right,” Colin agrees.
I roll my eyes at that. “I’m not, you’re correct. I went to the clerk’s office today because I wanted to start the process, but then I realized that I wasn’t completely set with what I wanted. I figured I should get everything sorted out now, before we travel somewhere where I’m going to need a passport.
“I’m going to change my name,” I say. “I’ve always hated Teagan, and I don’t want to be a Sullivan for another year of my life. I want to cut ties with my parents completely. I know what I want my first name to be...”
I open the file folder that has all the documents and instructions I’m going to need to change my name. I hand Benjamin the paper where I’ve written in my new first name, and filled everything else in, including my current address here in Colin’s mini palace, but the spot for my new last name.
“Lavender,” Ben reads out loud, his lips turning up into a huge smile.
He pulls me into a hug, and I squeeze him tight, before pulling away.
“The moment you called me Lavender, I felt like I was finally on the right path in my life,” I tell Ben. “It’s beautiful, fun, and makes me feel happy. When you call me Lavender, I feel whole.”
“Baby, I love it,” Ben says, tugging me into him for a kiss. “And I love you even more, Lavender.”
Mac steps over to us to look at the paper. “I’m most likely going to continue to call you Kitten, but I do like Lavender.”
“It’s perfect,” Alex and Colin both agree at the same time.
