Chapter Nineteen
Mason
I couldn’t believehow beautiful my wife looked standing up there. She said she had a surprise for me but when the music started up to “It’s Your Love” by Tim McGraw, I had to stare at her in awe. I hadn’t seen her sing like that since my drunken night at the bar when I felt like I couldn’t ever have her again.
She stood behind the microphone in her wedding dress with only a single light pointing at her. She was beautiful and took my breath away. I knew one thing right then, and that was that I couldn’t let her give up on her dream.
If singing was the life she wanted, I would follow her around the world to stand in the darkness every night watching her. Nothing was going to hold me back anymore. Lennox was all I’d ever wanted and finally, she officially became mine.
I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. The way she sang to me could move mountains for me. I would do anything to keep this woman happy. When she wrapped up the song, I slowly walked toward her while she made her way to me. I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her like I wouldn’t get another chance to kiss her again.
The DJ started back up. Lennox and I were still standing in the middle of the floor kissing when “You and Me” by Lifehouse came on. We slowly moved with one another and danced to a song that described exactly how I felt. Our kiss broke off and I looked down to her beautiful green eyes.
“I love you, Mrs. Reynolds.”
“I love you, Mr. Reynolds,” she said with a breathtaking smile.
We stayed close and danced the entirety of the song. When we broke apart, everyone was watching, they clapped as we made our way off the dance floor.
Sometime later, I was feeling way too good for it to only be eight o’clock. I didn’t remember drinking a lot, it might have been because I hadn’t eaten since my little monster had taken every bite. Lennox’s dad and Kathryn took Emma inside and put her to bed to let us have a little adult time, and adult time was kicking my ass. Dane finally agreed to give his speech, he stood behind the microphone and tapped his glass, drawing everyone’s attention.
“Alright, so I know this is a wedding and everything is supposed to be heartfelt, but it’s me so don’t expect too much.” Everyone laughed. “First off, I want to say congratulations to my brother and his beautiful wife, Lennox. If anyone in this world deserves happiness, it’s you two. I remember when Mason showed up in my office one night, freaking the fuck out because he thought he was falling in love with this girl. I gave him some bad advice because, let’s face it, I was shit-faced drunk. I think I told him she was going to destroy him and to save himself the pain and stay away from her, but I was hammered, who knows what I actually said. Point is, I’m glad he didn’t listen to me. Not only did Lennox save my brother from a long life of heartache but she gave him the best gift anyone could offer. He got his amazing little girl Emma. “
“And not only did Mason get Lennox back, but she brought my heart back with her. I’m not quite as good as my brother is in the love department, I fuck up everything and I thought I had lost the love of my life. But Lennox brought her back to me. I cannot thank you enough, Lennox. You saved my brother and myself. I hope you two have a lifetime of happiness. I love you both,” Everyone cheered at his speech and his grin widened. “Let’s get this party started.” Dane smacked me on the back.
Everyone danced, drank, and got loud. Alissa was complaining about not bringing any Cheetos, Sarah was off puking in the bushes behind the house, and Lennox was wrapped in my arms on the dance floor.
I pulled away, “I’ll be right back.” I pressed a quick kiss to her lips. I stood behind the microphone and told the DJ what I wanted to sing to my wife. The music started up and I began to sing “Hanging by a Moment” by Lifehouse.
Lennox smiled and laughed like she couldn’t believe I went to sing without being pressed to do it. I gave the song everything I had and kept eye contact with her the whole time. She sang along with me and when the song wrapped up, Dane came up on the stage.
I had started a karaoke war and didn’t even mean to.
I had no idea what he was going to sing, but I knew it would be totally off the wall, it wouldn’t be Dane if it wasn’t. He grabbed an electric guitar that the DJ had sitting beside him and started playing “Addicted” by Saving Abel. I hadn’t heard him play guitar since before our dad died. When he died, a piece of Dane died right along with him. He gave up his music and forced himself to grow up a bit and run Dad’s bar.
We all rushed the stage to sing along with him, drinks in hand. He knew every word of the song and Alissa blushed like it was some sort of dirty secret between the two of them.
“Why are you blushing?” I asked her over the music.
“No reason,” she said before singing along and dancing with the music.
Somehow, word leaked out about the reception going on and before we knew it, the backyard was overflowing. Everyone smashed into the tent, drinks were passed around, and all of us were having our moment by putting on a private concert.
“Trent, your turn,” Lennox said when Dane finished up.
Trent took the mic and started singing, “Up All Night” by Hinder. Lennox somehow managed to strip off her wedding dress and instead wore a short pair of jean shorts, flip flops, and a white tank top that said, “Bride” in hot pink. Her hair was flowing down her shoulders as she danced and spun along with the music. Watching her dance and move stirred parts of me and I couldn’t wait to have my wife in our bed.
“What do you say we turn in for the night?” I asked pressing my lips to her ear.
“I think you’re on to something.” She took me by the hand and led me toward the house.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I asked picking her up and carrying her over the threshold. She squealed and laughed.
“Shh, people are sleeping,” I whispered in her ear. She covered her mouth but couldn’t be quiet for anything. I carried her up to our bedroom and closed the door behind us. Lennox pulled her shirt over her head to reveal a sexy white, lace bra. Then she slid her shorts down to show off the matching panties. I couldn’t take my eyes off her as she slowly walked toward me. When she was close enough, I pulled her in for a kiss. I placed my hands on her hips and picked her up, carrying her over to the bed.
“You’re so fucking sexy,” I said, looking down on her. Before she could get a word out, I covered her lips with mine. She undid the buttons on my shirt and pushed it out of the way before flipping me over to trail kisses down my chest. She unbuttoned my pants but before she could pull them down, I rolled her over and covered her body.
“I have to have you right now.” I pulled her panties down and pressed a kiss to the inside of her thigh.
