Chapter Twenty-seven
Jordin
I’monedgewhenwe go back to Lexy’s house to get ready, saying a silent prayer we don’t run into the three of them before the party goers arrive. Thankfully they’re nowhere to be seen. To be honest my nerves have been on edge all day. Not just because of what happened with Caleb at school earlier but because we almost got caught sneaking out of school by Mr Wyatt.
“Black or purple?” Lexy asks, holding her two dresses up for me to review.
The black dress is a short and sexy cut out criss-cross cami dress with a pencil styled hem. The purple is similar.
“You would look amazing in either of those hotties. It’s your call babe,”
“I was thinking the black,” she says, throwing the purple dress haphazardly into her wardrobe then pulls out a half bottle of vodka from a brown paper bag.
“Let’s get this party started,” she sings unscrewing the lid.
I stop her just as her lips are about to touch the bottle.
“Have you eaten anything other than what we had a lunch today?”
She rolls her eyes.
“It’s not my first-time drinking Jordin. Believe it or not I do go to a lot of family functions. Don’t ever drink champagne by the way the hangovers are a real pain in the ass.”
“Sorry I just...” I don’t get to finish the rest of my sentence before she interjects.
“I know you’re only looking out for me, but I can hold my own when it comes to alcohol. In fact I bet tonight I drink you under the table,” she jokes.
“Oh really? We’ll have to see about that,” I tease plucking the bottle from her hand taking a huge swig. I swallow hard feeling the familiar burn in my throat, but that doesn’t stop me from taking another massive gulp spilling some down my chin.
“Hey…don’t be a greedy bitch. Leave some for the rest of us,” she chuckles.
Grabbing it from my hands she takes a big pull from the bottle.
“Right then,” she says clapping her hands. “let’s get the tunes on, get dressed and get ready to part...tay,” she sings excitedly.
An hour and a half later we take in our appearance in her massive floor length mirror.
“Twit whoo,” I whistle. “You look amazing,” I appraise because she really does. Lexy is stunning.
“Me? look at you. Babe I’m as straight as a wooden ruler but even I fancy you in that dress,” she laughs.
“Ha ha very funny,” I say before second guessing my outfit. “You don’t think it’s too short or revealing?”
“Girl, are you crazy? Look in the mirror again.”
“I think I need another drink.” I tell her taking another drink from the bottle to calm my nerves.
“No, look in the mirror Jordin,” she says pulling me back to look at myself.
“Now repeat after me. I am powerful. I am beautiful. In my mind, body and my spirit. I am magnetic.”
“What was that?” I ask sincerely wanting to know.
“It’s called Law of Attraction and Affirmation. I watched a documentary about it recently on Netflix and apparently if you manifest something and visualise it the universe will listen.”
“That’s bull.”
“It’s not I swear.”
