Page 129 of His to Ruin

“Brother, he’s not worth it.” Caleb says pulling Saint back before a fight erupts.

“Lexy move.” Saint orders pointing to his side like he’s commanding a disobedient dog.

When she doesn’t move Caleb calls my name.

“Jordin. Don’t make me have to ask you twice. You’re in enough trouble as it is.” Caleb bites out furiously.

“Jordin?” Lucas asks roaming his eyes over everyone at the table. “You must be mistaken Bailey. There’s no one here by that name. But if you mean her,” Lucas says pointing to me. “Then allow me to introduce you. This is Jordina Maloti, my cousin. And she’s going nowhere. So stay. The. Fuck. Away. From. Her.”

Caleb takes a step back as if he’s just been sucker punched in the gut.

“A Maloti?” Colton snarls out in disgust. “You’re a filthy fucking Maloti?” he spits again. Everyone at the table stands ready for a fight except for Logan and Lucas who remain seated as the entire cafeteria looks on with audible gasps.

“And to think I was going to fuck you,” Colton shouts looking at me in disgust.

Having had enough of this bullshit I stand.

“Sit down baby.” Logan orders to me.

Baby? I’m not his fucking baby. I want to tell him that but I’m too focused on Colton right now. I’m furious at what he just said to me. I’m furious that Caleb just stood there and let him talk to me like that. It’s clear by the look of sheer loathing on his face that he hates me now to, and all because of my fucking surname.

“Let’s get one thing straight here asshole. You were NEVER going to fuck me. Ever! And as for me being a Maloti. It’s true. And Ian maybe my grandfather but I want no part in this feud. In fact every single one of you here can keep me out of all your future bullshit.” I say before taking Lexy’s hand and storming out of the cafeteria with her.

Thankfully none of them follow still fixated on their standoff.

We hide out in the nook in the library until lunch is over.

“Do you think they killed each other?” Lexy asks jokingly but half serious as well.

“I haven’t heard any sirens yet. Hopefully it didn’t get that far,” I sigh rubbing my hands together. “I don’t know what I’m going to do Lex. If I don’t do what Lucas says he said he’ll tell our grandfather who’s already threatened to lock me in my room and have me home schooled if I put a foot out of place.” I hold out my hands in front of me turning them into fists. “Hey rock meet hard place, hard place meet rock.”

“It’s a fucking shitty situation babe. One I wish I had the answer to. Our families hate each other that much is clear. But why? Maybe I can speak with Saint? I mean there’s gotta be a way we can all go here peacefully until we graduate.”

“There’s something I haven’t told you yet.”

“There’s more? Sweet baby Jesus how much more could there be?”

“I’m glad you’re sitting down already put it that way.”

“Oh boy. That doesn’t sound good.”

“Eric was in an arranged marriage to my mom, Lexy.”

Her brow furrow shaking her head. “I’m sorry what?”

“I know I had the same reaction, but it’s true.”

“She went missing before they got married.”

“So your mom could still be out there somewhere?”

I shake my head remembering what Ian said about the horrific way she died.

“She’s dead Lex.”

“How do you know for sure though? I mean if she went missing then she could still be alive.”

“She was found. Piece by piece in boxes that were sent back to my grandfather one body part at a time.”
