Picking them up she holds them in hers. “Jordin how many times have we been over this? There’s nothing you can say that will push me away. Nothing. Well, unless you tell me that you slept with Saint that is which I know you haven’t, so spit it out.”

Dropping my voice to a near whisper I tell her the truth. “My name isn’t Jordin Richmond. Its Jordina Maloti. I’m a sworn enemy to your stepfather Eric. Everything you said about them being a part of the mafia is true, Lexy. I watched my grandfather shoot my dad, or James… whatever. “ I rush out waving a hand in the air. “He shot him in front of me, Lexy.”

She gasps bringing her hand to her mouth then exhales softly.

“I knew I wasn’t just a rumour. Everything all adds up now. Why Saint is the way he is. Why Eric is the way he is. Why Eric was quizzing me so much about you the day after the wedding. He wouldn’t let it go and kept asking me questions about you. But Jordin, shit can I still call you that or is it Jordina now?”

“No my name is Jordin. I’ve been Jordin for seventeen years and I’m not changing it now.”

She shakes her head. “If they are enemies and all at this school together then all hell is going to break loose.”

“I know,” I say stopping her. “It’s not going to end well and I’m going to get caught in the middle. Especially when Caleb finds out who I really am. Lucas says he’ll tell my grandfather if I go near any of you. That I will be taken out of here and home schooled. I’m scared Lexy. I’m like really fucking scared.”

She gives my hand a gentle squeeze.

“We won’t let that happen,” she promises just as the second bell rings out that classes have started.

Panic rises in my chest remembering my grandfather’s words about him checking up on me with Mr Wyatt.

The last thing I need is to get written up for being late to class.

“My grandfather has eyes on me in this school. I have to go. I can’t be late for class.”

“C’mon then. You can fill me in on the rest later.”

Chapter Fifty-two

Jordin

Wesitthroughfirstperiod together catching up on everything that happened over break. We promise to talk more at lunch time but as its’s raining outside we agree to meet in the cafeteria instead. I haven’t seen Saint, Caleb, or Colton yet nor have I seen Logan or Lucas since this morning. I hope they're, not in the same classes. They’ll end up killing each other.

Fuck. This is all I need.

“What are you doing here?” I ask Logan who’s waiting for me outside of the classroom.

“I’m taking you to lunch,” he says holding out his hand for me to take.

I ignore it walking straight past him but he grabs my hand in his lacing our fingers together.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“I’m holding a beautiful girl’s hand and taking her to lunch. What does it look like?”

“I’m aware you’re holding my hand smart ass. What I want to know is why?”

“Because Saint Garo needs to get it into his head that you don’t belong to him. You’re a Maloti and under our protection now. That’s why.”

I ground my teeth. “You’re not a Maloti. So what do you care what Saint thinks about me?”

“I may not be a Maloti, but I’m ordered to protect you. So that’s what I’ll do.”

“Just so we’re clear, I don’t belong to Saint Garo. I never did. And I don’t belong to you either so stop making it look as if I am,” I say trying to yank my hand free from his tight grip. I’m scared that Caleb will see this and get the wrong idea.

“Let’s go,” he says laughing like he hasn’t a care in the fucking world.

He continues to hold my hand in a vice like grip all the way to the cafeteria. Not once does he let go. Its pissing me clean off. I feel like a child that needs to be taken everywhere. When we enter the room I make a beeline towards an empty table but Logan pulls me in the opposite direction and over to a table were Lucas is waiting with Christy and Georgina hovering over him, giggling like he just said something funny. Great, this is all I need. Didn’t take them long. So much for loyalty over Saint and Caleb. There’re six other male students I haven’t seen before at the table to. Are they new here as well? I wonder.

“What’s she doing here?” Georgina says curling her lip up in disgust as I approach them. Logan pulls out a seat for me to take next to Lucas.
