CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
I’m getting married.
Fucking hell, I’m getting married.
Once he’d dropped Bella off and her sweet ass was nowhere in sight, reality hit Blake a little harder.
Was he insane?
There was no guarantee he’d be able to save InkWell, and it would mean plowing the money from the agreement into the company to keep it afloat.
Worth it?
He wasn’t sure.
But denying he was doing this so Bella didn’t walk down the aisle with another man would be stupid. He liked her. A lot.
From dating to marrying her in one night. Jesus, that was insane even for him.
Not that they’d married yet, but it was happening.
At least once he’d seen the fine print.
While he might be a little insane, he wasn’t completely out of his mind. He wanted some advice from someone who wasn’t—yet—too close but was very fucking smart.
Blake stared at his phone, willing it to ring. Shaking his head, he tapped the keys on his laptop to wake the screen up and then began to go through his emails.
Then glanced at his phone again.
Ring goddamn you.
Then it did, which freaked him out.
Blake grabbed the mobile phone and punched the answer button.
“Blake Dufort,” he said breathlessly for no reason.
“If you’re fucking someone, please don’t answer when I call,” Daniel growled.
Blake laughed and flopped back into his black leather executive chair. “I’m fully clothed and alone, I promise.”
Despite the NDA, he needed advice. There were ways around those confidentiality things and, given the impact to his life and business, Blake wasn’t going to sit quietly like some well-behaved little boy.
Talking to his mom or Jacob or even Logan and Aidan was too risky.
Daniel might be of the same blood, but they were still getting to know one another. Blake felt his powerful CEO cousin would have some good advice, especially given he’d already picked up on his financial challenge in the marketplace.
“Yeah, that doesn’t clarify things, but anyway, what’s up?” Daniel laughed.
“So rhetorical question—” Blake began.
“A friend of a friend, I get it.”
Blake chuckled quietly. “Exactly. A friend of a friend has been offered a partnership, shall we say, that will resolve an immediate financial threat to his business.”
