Page 14 of Paying A Debt

“Hey Nicole, it’s good seeing you again it’s been a while.”

“I know it’s good seeing you too.”

“So what’s the emergency?” Ray asks.

“Why is ATF in town?” I ask and he nods his head knowing where I was going with this.

“She’s one of their best agents, she has put a lot of clubs away. The River Falls MC has been around for a little over a year now and she wants to get rid of the club before it gets any bigger. My opinion and a lot of the guys at the station think she should pack her shit and leave our town. We don’t like it when ATF is in our town either, they are a big pain in the ass and know nothing about our town and how things work here. I will see what she has on them and let you know what I find out.”

“Thanks, Ray this means so much to me,” I tell him.

“It’s not a problem I'll talk to you later.” Ray walks off and I sigh in relief knowing that he will help, I can relax just a little bit.

“So what’s going on with you and Christopher?” Kate asks with a smirk.

“Not sure to be honest. What about you and Daniel?” I ask.

“It’s complicated.”

“Girl I know what you mean.”

“The more I push Daniel away the more he tries to help me and be there for me. I just don’t know what to do.” Kate says as she plays with her hair. She always does that when she’s going through a rough time with her dad.

“Stop pushing him away and let him be there for you.” Wow, Nicole, you should take your own fucking advice.

“Maybe, it’s not going to be easy.”

“Of course not he’s a Thorn and they are a big pain in the ass.” Kate laughs.

“Yeah, but they are our big pain in the ass.”

“That’s very true. It’s getting late I should head back I will see you soon and thank you for the help.” I said with a smile.

“No problem we have to keep our boys out of trouble don’t we.”

“Yes we do Kate, Finn can’t always do it by himself.” I gave her a hug than walk back home. When I walk inside it was quiet he must not be back yet. I walk into my room to grab a book off the table and started to read it. The door opens and I keep on reading trying to finish this chapter.

“Really you are just going to ignore me.”

“I’m not, I’m reading a book.”

“What else is new you always are. You were gone all day and you come home and not say one word to me you are unbelievable.” I close my book and slam it to the table.

“I was finding out information for you remember and I didn’t know you were home it’s why I grabbed a book to read. Don’t come in here acting like a dickhead when all I was doing is trying to help you find out information about the fucking ATF agent that’s all over the fucking club. I didn’t have to go out and ask for help for you and the others. So you can go fuck yourself.” I storm out of my room and ran downstairs.

“Where are you fucking going?” he yelled. I ignored him and walked straight out of the house not wanting to be anywhere near him right now. All I ever do is help this fucking family and all I get is yelled at by him for everything little fucking thing. I don’t know what I have to do for him to trust me. I spotted Smoke’s Night Club and I walk right in. The music hit my ears and it was relaxing, even though the music was loud, all my anger just vanished. I looked up to see Spencer and Jasper they both waved me over.

“You left without permission, didn't you?” Jasper asks.

“Please don’t tell him where I am I can’t deal with him right now, I just can’t.” They look at each other than back me.

“Okay, you do know why he’s mad at you right?” Spencer asks with his eyebrows raised and a sigh that was quick. We walked over to his office and we sat down.

“No I don’t all I was doing is helping you guys out, I didn’t do anything wrong.”

“That’s not the problem Nicole. The problem is that when you got home instead of talking to him you went to your room and started reading and when he did walk in your room you still didn’t say anything to him until he yelled at you. You know how he gets when you don’t talk to him.” Spencer says with what looks like disappointment on his face and I don’t like it. They are like my older brothers so knowing that I let them down this time sucks.

“I didn’t know he was home I really didn’t it was quiet so I assumed no one was home. I wouldn’t intentionally ignore him like that. I was just trying to finish up the chapter I was on.” Damn it, this fight was on me this time.

“Talk to him,” Jasper says in a serious tone.

“I will just not tonight I can’t.”

“Fine, I’m guessing you are coming home with us,” Spencer says with a smile.

“Yes and please don’t tell him, promise me you won’t.” They both sigh heavily. They never go back on their promises.

“I promise.” They said in unison. I hugged them both and Jasper drove us back home. When we got to the house all the kids were up running around.

“What are you kids doing up at this time?” Spencer yells. Nikki and Jordan ran upstairs quickly, very smart. The little ones ran to the living room and sat in front of the TV. Thea, Levy, and Lydia were all sleeping on the couch these poor things must be exhausted. I help them get the kids to bed then they got the girls to bed as well. I walk into my old bedroom and everything is just how I left it. It’s been so long since I’ve been here it feels good being back. I have to make it up to Christopher somehow, I need to take my own advice and stop pushing him away he hasn’t done anything wrong so why am I doing it? He has always been there for me now it’s my turn to be there for him in every way possible. I hope Ray gets the information I need because I’m not going to let some bitch take my family away from me, I lost them once before I don’t plan on losing them for a second time because she doesn’t know how to mind her own fucking business. This town doesn’t need ATF all we need is the Jerome family they are the ones who keep this town safe and drug-free not the cops or ATF. First thing tomorrow I will make things right with Christopher no matter what. I’m tired of the fighting it’s making us both miserable it’s time to get us on track once and for all and I think I know how to do it. Hopefully, he can start trusting me I would never do anything to harm him or this family. This family saved me on more than one occasion it’s my turn to keep them safe.
