“Guys, will you chill out? This is all part of my master plan to get Alexa back.” Macy cringes at me. “What?”
“I’ve gotten to know her and hate to break it to you, Miles, but that isn’t going to work,” she deadpans.
“Oh yeah?” It’s my turn to cross my arms.
“She isn’t like you.” She fights back.
“What does that mean?” I frown.
“If she were to show up with another man, you would go all caveman on her.” She isn’t wrong, but I would do it in the most obnoxious way possible to make the guy look like a douche and me a shiny medal. “She won’t do the same.” She pokes me in the chest. “She’ll likely keep her distance, possibly feel self-doubt, and you’ll dig yourself a hole so deep no one would bother to drop lotion down to you.”
“What?” That came out of nowhere.
Throwing up her arms, she snarls and storms off.
“Good talk, shorty!”
“You’ll regret this,” she calls back, leaving me with Brandon, and he’s staring.
“What?”
“She’s right, you know?”
“Now you’re a professional on women?”
“No, but I know when mine is right.” Without another word, he marches off after said woman.
Looking back at the table, I wonder if I’m doing the right thing. Sure, I talk up a big game and all, but I’m scared of losing the one thing I never knew I wanted until Alexa walked into my life. Today will be the first time I’ve seen her since I fell asleep in her bed.
I’m excited as well because I’m hoping just seeing me will bring her back into my embrace.
And you won’t be doing that with Thea by your side, dipshit.
Hey, we’re in a church. No swearing.
You’re making a massive mistake.
“Time to get ready.” Mason’s hand captures my shoulder, jerking me from my inner debate with my wolf.
This isn’t over.
Yes, it is, and I’ve won. Now, think of a way to fix the mess you’re about to make.
“Babe, do you need some help with your tie?” Thea’s out of the pew, being very unladylike by pulling her tight dress out from her ass crack as she staggers over to me like she’s already started drinking. Her leopard print heels are pointed inward.
I have looked and seen Thea enough to know what she looks like, but I’ve neverreallylooked at her. Her dark brown roots are showing under the dye job that makes the blond look orange rather than a natural yellow. Her eye makeup is too heavy, and there’s red on her teeth from her lips.
Yeah, what the hell were you thinking?
When did Thea change into a hot mess?
She used to be nice to look at, and she’s the same age as me but doesn’t look it.
“Thea, you are to stay put. Miles is a big boy and can handle dressing himself.” Mason’s barked command has even her standing still. Well, she’s teetering but not getting any closer to me. “Miles, movenow.”
“Yes, alpha.” Saluting him, I begin to move toward the room where our suits are hanging. Leaving Thea behind means my mom will likely find her, and she’ll be gone before I return.
You aren’t that lucky.
