“I know.” Though not complete until tomorrow night, the full moon still has control over us in the days leading up and the few that follow. Our beasts shimmer just below the surface, ready to get out and hunt.

“Just mind your strength if you’re going to do anything extracurricular.” He continues his warnings as if I’m a pup.

“Are you giving me the sex talk, big brother? Because I’ll have you know, I’ve been dipping my stick plenty around the full moon over the years, and it has always been fine.”

“Other women aren’t Alexa,” he snaps.

“He’s got a point,” Derek shouts from across the clearing.

Damn wolf hearing.

“I’m not worried. Now, can we shut up and finish our work? I have to go pick up my woman and impress her with my culinary skills.” Once more, there’s a chorus of grumbles, but this time, some complain that if I would just shut the hell up, we could be done already.

For the next hour, we work well together, getting everything set up for the pack meeting tomorrow night. I can’t get out of there quick enough. I don’t bother to return to my house to shower even though we’re close. Instead, I get in my Jeep and head to Fetterman to collect Alexa before turning around and hopefully keeping her to myself for an adult sleepover.

I’m not the type of guy to pull up to a girl’s place and lay on the horn for her to come out. My mom raised me better than that. But when I get to Rylie’s mom’s house, I only have one foot on the street when the front door opens, and Alexa is making her way out.

Her long legs are encased in jeans with wedges on her feet. With each step she takes, a hint of golden-tanned stomach is flashed under the off-the-shoulder black-and-blue-striped shirt. Her hair is down once more in loose waves that bounce with her strides.

Don’t tell my mom, but I’m not given an opportunity to open her door. She’s much quicker than me because I’m trying to pick up my jaw.

Bullshit.

Shut it.

Her apple scent wafts over me, causing my chest to vibrate with a hungered growl. It sounds more wolfish than human, but thankfully, she doesn’t catch it.

“Hey, handsome.” Before she buckles in, Alexa leans over, cups my face with one hand, and presses those glorious red lips to mine.

“Hey, baby. Are you ready for our evening?” The growl-like sound of my voice apparently isn’t going anywhere.

“I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us,” she purrs.

Fuck.

“I have a lot planned out. You up for it?” Sexual innuendos aren’t going anywhere tonight.

There’s a deadlock between us, her gaze locking with mine. And fuck me, I see desire shining in the depths.

“I guess you’ll have to wait and see.”

Game. On.

Chapter Six

Alexa

“Don’t you think this is a little crazy? We’ve fallen head over heels at light speed for these brothers?”

Rylie’s words continue to repeat in my mind as I take in Miles’s profile. She isn’t wrong to have some concern about how quickly this is happening for both of us. This is intense, but I don’t mind.

And she doesn’t even know anything about my past.

She has no clue her questioning had me panicking earlier. She’s correct to voice her concern. Before Mason, Rylie was happily single after her ex cheated on her, and now, she finds herself tossing and turning at night thinking about Miles’s older brother.

I know what she’s going through.

The handsome man sitting across from me has me dreaming of that strong jawline dusted with stubble and his always joyful eyes looking down at me with glee. At the most inopportune times, my body convulses with a need to be near him. I crave him more than any sugary sweet this world has to offer, and I love my dark chocolate.
