“You’re pretty good at this, Princess.”

“What? Party planning?” I rolled my eyes.

He shook his head. “No. Leading.”

Oh. My cheeks warmed under his gaze. “I mean, I just?—”

“No. They listen to you. Because they trust you, and they believe in you. Theywantto follow you.” He nudged my shoulder with his arm. “You can’t fake that. It comes naturally.”

Maybe he was right. I’d been overwhelmed that I wasn’t doing enough, that I wasn’t good enough to be president, but… I felt better now. I could do this. Maybe evenenjoyeddoing it. “Thank you.” I dipped my head.I’ve tried.

“Of course.”

“I have to go change,” I said to Cam, ignoring the butterflies in my stomach.

“I’ll see you tonight, Princess,” he gave me a wink before disappearing through the door, probably going to do the same thing.

And the smile that split my face made me realize… I couldn’t wait.

Not for the dance, but knowing I’d get to spend time withhim.

CHAPTER 18

Cam

The girls really had outdone themselves, and we were just fucking lucky they’d let us come along.

I stood in line, tickets in hand.

Maybe I shouldn’t have purchased two. Maybe I didn’tneedto. I certainly hadn’t asked anyone to be my date. Didn’t want anyone to be—anyone except for Ella.

The beautiful girl in the silver gown currently hurrying towards me. Fuck, but she was gorgeous. The most captivating girl in the room. Stunning, and sparkling, and there wasn’t a thing in the world that could keep me from being by her side.

That was the truth, wasn’t it? The reason I’d done everything I had this last month? Because I wanted her. I wanted… more.

“You didn’t have to buy a ticket,” is what she said when she finally reached me.

I shrugged. “Wanted to.” It was the least I could do, wasn’t it? Supporting her sorority? Getting all my guys to be here?

“Two?” she asked, her eyes filled with a hint of confusion. “Why do you have…”

Before I could let the hurt cloud over her face, I pushed the piece of paper into her hand. “The second one’s for you, Princess.”

“Oh. But…” She frowned. “You don’t have a date?”

“No.” I leaned in close enough for my lips to brush against her ear as her hands slid up onto the lapel of my suit. “Besides. There’s only one girl I’d want to be my date.” I pause for dramatic effect, dying to run my hands through her perfectly styled hair. “And that’s the one in front of me right now.”

“Cam.” Her voice was quiet, like maybe she hadn’t realized it yet.

“Be my date, Ella.” Picking up her hand, I gave it a kiss. “Please.”

She looked away for a beat before her eyes connected with mine. Those beautiful baby blues widened. Like whatever she found on my face, she’d deemed acceptable. “Okay.”

I took a step back to look at her fully. “Princess, this is… Wow. You look…” A rough swallow. Gorgeous. Completely stunning. “Did you make this?” Reaching out, I rubbed the shimmery fabric between my fingers.

“Yes.” Ella smiled, her entire face lighting up with the action. “Thank you.”

Beautiful didn’t even begin to describe it.
