“We’re all going to be dead if you don’t break down and read the goddamn instructions.” Tate points at the booklet laying on the glass table. “Burns suck.” The children’s heart doctor would know.
“Fine,” Cash relents. “Look up where this goes.” He holds up a black hose.
“That looks like something I use in the bedroom.” Giant shrugs.
“We don’t need to hear about your sex toys.” Playboy drops down into one of the wrought iron chairs. “Read the goddamn instructions. I don’t plan to die today.” He kicks one of his booted feet up on the edge of the table. “My wife has plans for me later.” The wealthy heir to Romano International, the shipping empire, points to the front of his jeans.
“You will fucking die if Gloria sees your size fifteens on her table,” Rulie reminds him.
God. It’s fucking great to be home. My heart settles into place for the first time in years. I waited way too fucking long to retire.
The holiday weekend passes way the fuck too fast. Before I blink, it’s the night before my girl flies home. We’ve been avoiding the subject, but it’s time for me to make my move.
CHAPTERTHIRTY-NINE
LONDON
The night before I head home from Silver Spoon Falls, Bender takes my hand and leads me into his family room. This freaking house is huge. Five freaking bedrooms and six bathrooms of country beauty. Who in the world needs six bathrooms?
When he sits me on the sofa and takes my hand in his, I realize my worried mind wandered off.
“We need to talk.” His words cause my stomach to clench. If he wants to slow things down, my heart will shatter. Over the last few days, I’ve discovered that there’s no way I can live without Bender.
“The thought of living without seeing your gorgeous face for even one day is killing me.” He places a kiss across my knuckles. “So, we need to discuss how we’re going to make this work.” My hot rockstar rubs his bottom lip. “I can’t sell my house since it’s attached to MC property, but we can use it as a vacation home.” My mushy mind has no idea what he’s saying. “And I patched in for life. I can’t imagine my life without the MC.”
“I’d never ask you to give up the MC,” I interrupt him. “I’ll quit my job and move here.”
“No.” Bender shakes his head. “You won’t suffer for loving me.” There must be some way we can make it all work.
We stay up late in the night discussing our plans. As much as I love my job at Curvy Cuties, I love Bender more.
In the end, we decide that Bender will fly home with me while I try to work everything out. I’ll talk to Jenna and see if there’s any way I can work remotely.
If everything goes as planned, I’ll move to Silver Spoon Falls with my rockstar boyfriend. A little voice in the back of my head whispers, hopefully, he’ll decide to become my Rockstar husband.
The thought of living close to my older brothers makes me happy, but it all depends on my friend’s reaction. Telling the cuties that I plan to move to Texas will suck, but I have no doubt that they’ll understand. We’ll make it work somehow.
“Are you okay?” Bender hands me a travel mug of black gold.
I nod my head yes and take a sip of my coffee. “Thank you.” I stand on my tiptoes and place a kiss on his cheek. His dark brown, rough goatee hair tickles my face.
“I love you.” As he kisses me, all my worries fly out the window.
“I love you, too,” I tell him and reach for my purse. “I’ll call you and let you know how it goes.” Today is the day. I’m heading into the office to meet with my girls. I sent a group chat last night asking if they would all come in to meet with me. We all keep different work schedules, and I didn’t want to wait for everyone to be in at the same time.
“I cannot believe you made me get up at six-thirty a.m.” Maddie drops her computer bag on the conference table. “This better be important. I need at least eight hours of beauty sleep,” she grumbles and reaches for my coffee mug.
After taking a huge sip of my coffee, Maddie sits back and watches Jenna walk in and place her coffee cup on the table. “I’m so happy to have you home.” Jenna leans over to hug me. “I know it was just a week, but it felt like much longer.”
My heart sinks. This will be harder than I thought.
Once Emery and Piper, the real night owls, come stumbling in and take their seats, I blow out my breath and blurt out, “I met someone.”
They all start talking at the same time, and I sit back and wait until Jenna finally has enough. “Give her a chance to talk. Sheesh.”
As I look around the table, I shrug. “I’m moving to Silver Spoon Falls to live with Bender Valentine.”
I blink several times as Piper begins to laugh. “Come on. What’s really going on?”
