Whatever. He doesn’t understand the magic of being surrounded by strangers who all look the same.
The rest of the band are here too; I invited Charlie but he refused. Then promptly made fun of my brother for not being able to. I love that guy.
We’re starting the last leg of the tour in the next few weeks and this is my ideal vacation. How didn’t I know about this sooner?
There are fraternal twins here too, but they don’t scare my brother so it’s not as funny.
“Why are you scared of twins anyway?” Oliver asks “You’ve been one your whole life.”
“It’s bizarre enough that im a real life clone,” Scout gags, “I don’t want to be surrounded by them. Is this not freaky to anyone else?”
“It is a little weird.” Callum says, and I snatch my hand from his, crossing my arms and facing him.
“Are you making fun of my dream?” I ask.
“Your dream was to come to the twin festival?” Callum mirrors me with a raised brow. “Since when?”
“Since that crazy guy told me about it,” I sigh wistfully, “I knew then and there I wouldn’t rest until I arrived and you’re all ruining it.”
“I’m so sorry,” Callum tries not to laugh, “I should be more supportive.”
“No you shouldn’t!” Scout yells, “What do you even do here? Walk around and be twins? Why does this exist?”
“Holy shit! Triplets!” Kellen shouts.
“Oh God,” Scout cries, “there’s more of them.”
We walk around and see the events, even learning things I didn’t know about being a twin. I talk to other twins, and we compare how we were raised as multiples. Torturing my brother is fun, but this is actually cool as fuck.
We decided against entering the talent show, seeing as we’re famous musicians but it’s fun to watch the other people participate.
We meet a set of female twins named Destinee and Journee they’re identical like us, and it’s their first time here too. Unlike us though, they’re here enthusiastically. Destinee has long waist length box braids and Journee’s hair is a large curly afro. They wear matching tracksuits, with Destinee in pink and Journee in green. I find it fascinating how their names match without matching.
“Do you smoke?” Journee asks after we watch the parade.
“Absolutely.” Scout says.
The rest of the group walks away with them but I wait, wanting to talk to Callum.
“Don’t you wanna go?” he asks.
“We’ll join them in a second. I just wanted to talk to you.”
“Please don’t propose to me at the Ohio twin festival.”
I smack his chest before wrapping my arms around him, “Shut the fuck up! I’m not proposing— Yet. And I’m not doing it here.”
“What if I wanted to propose?” He holds me back.
“I guess we’re gonna have to see who does it first. Now stop distracting me, I’m trying to be sweet.”
“Okay, I’m sorry. You can be sweet now.”
“I just wanted to thank you.”
“For?”
“For coming here. For everything. This isn’t your thing, but youre here because I wanted to go.”
