“I agree with Bailey; we need to draw him out in the open, and Bailey is the only one who can do that,” Ghost said.
I vehemently opposed the idea. “Are you fucking crazy? He’s getting closer to her, and his next move might be fatal. He likely knows she has figured him out. I won’t let her out of my sight.”
“Oh, really, I just saw her walk out the front door five minutes ago,” Ghost got up and walked to the window. “Yep, there she goes down the street with her bag.”
I immediately sprang into action and rushed out the door. “Bailey, where are you going? Stop walking so we can talk. Where are you headed?”
“I’m going home, where I should be when that monster comes for me,” Bailey replied. “How can we kill him if he doesn’t know where I am?”
“So, you’re crazy; I knew it all along. Give me that bag you are returning to my house. Where that fucking killer can’t reach you.”
Bailey’s eyes narrowed. “Call me crazy one more time, and I’ll show you how much self-defense I know.” Her seriousness kept me from laughing. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. Alright, I’ll grab a bag and go with you.”
She frowned. “Why do you think I need you to protect me?”
“Because I think the time for posing for pictures is over. The danger is real now, and that monster will want to kill you the next time he sees you.”
Bailey nodded in agreement. “That’s what I think, too. I don’t want him killing you either.”
“I’ll keep an eye on you, and you can watch over me,” I joked, but she took it seriously.
“Okay, let’s get your bag, but you have to promise not to be bossy. I won’t tell you what to do, and you won’t tell me what to do.”
I didn’t confirm or dispute her; instead, I held her hand, and we returned to the house.
As we walked back, Bailey tugged at her hand. “Aren’t you going to say anything?”
“Whatever you say, Sugar,” I replied with a smile. She seemed satisfied, thinking I agreed with her.
“Now, that wasn’t so difficult, was it?” She said with a smug look on her face.
“No, not difficult at all,” I restrained a chuckle. Once again, I didn’t want to hurt her feelings. Does she genuinely believe that was an agreement?
Ghost spoke up. “I’ll catch up with both of you later. So, are you staying here?”
“No, we’ll be up at the cabin. Stay in touch if you hear anything. I have the phone from Spartan, so I can answer from anywhere.”
“You got it,” Ghost replied.
I quickly gathered some supplies into a bag and joined Bailey in the kitchen. “I’ll have to lock everything up,” I said, looking at Bailey’s ass as she bent over in the fridge.
Bailey had her head in the fridge; she raised it and glanced at me. “Why don’t we take your truck, and we can take some of this food with us? We might be there for a while.”
“I’ll get a box. Let’s get the coffee also. Get whatever you think we need,” I stood there as she hummed to herself while taking out food. “So, is it alright with you that we’ll be at the cabin?”
“I’m fine with it now that you realize I was right when I said I need to be more in the open to lure the monster to me,” Bailey replied.
“I don’t want my fiancé getting herself killed.”
“I’m not your real fiancé. Why are you talking like it’s real?”
“I like having a fiancé. Believe it or not, I’m a big catch with the women; I’m handsome and rich. Having a fiancé will keep them away from me, plus it keeps the men away from you.”
“So you are saying it’s a win-win for both of us,” Bailey chuckled.
I smiled. “Yes, that’s what I’m saying.”
“Okay, but if you do meet someone, you can’t date, kiss, or have sex with them while you are engaged to me,” Bailey declared.
