Amelia
I hate this shift. I am always working with the two men that make my skin crawl. If it’s not the eyes that constantly roam over my entire body, it’s the constant remarks about either my weight or me being a girl and working with the fire department. To top it off, they always have friends coming into the lounge and hanging out. If it wasn’t for the fact that they get in on the bullying and my torture, then I am sure they wouldn’t even notice that I am there.
“Mackenzie, there are two guys for you at the bay doors wanting to talk with you,” Chief yells from the bottom of the pole.
I start for the stairs but decide that I am going to take the pole down.
“Watch out, Chief. Incoming!” I yell and jump onto the pole, giggling as I slide down the pole and smile up at the Chief when I hit the bottom.
“You’re a nut, Mackenzie; take your hour lunch with the two gentlemen,” he tells me and heads toward his office.
I turn toward the bay doors and see ogre one and troll two standing there smiling with their arms crossed over their chest.
“What’s up cast of Shrek?” I ask as I approach them.
They both chuckle and hold out their hands.
I stare at them and walk past them without grabbing onto either one of them.
“Amelia, wait please,” the one that was introduced as Eagle states.
I spin around and raise my finger “No, you wait! You two show up at my job and expect me to be guided around by my hands. I have enough damn trouble with the ignorant men that I work with on my shift. What the hell do you want?” I growl.
“Hey, baby, hold up. We just wanted to ask you if you would go to dinner with us on your next day off,” Drills states.
“Why me? With the both of you?” I asked, clearly confused at what they are asking me.
“Yeah, sweetheart, with you, all three of us go out to dinner and discuss stuff,” Eagle says as he walks closer to me and puts his hands on my cheeks.
Drills comes up behind me and places his lips on the side of my neck where he places a gentle kiss before whispering in my ear, “Yeah, babe, we have decided that you are ours.”
“EXCUSE ME!” I start to yell before Eagle lips land on mine, and his tongue dives into my mouth. Drills lips and tongue are sensually roaming the side of my neck from the base to behind my ear.
I can feel myself starting to get weak in the knees when a group of the guys come walking out, and then the comments start to fly.
“Guys, there are better chicks out there than Chunks Magee,” says one voice.
“They must be part of the Chubby Chasers club,” says another one.
“I thought bikers were into chicks, not chicks with dicks,” the third voice states. The last voice is the one that breaks my resolve. It’s the one that finally makes the tears fall and causes me to run into the station to my room.
“Fuck. How can you touch her ugly ass? My dog’s asshole is better looking than she is.” That voice is the one that makes my entire time at the fire station hell. I desperately want to yell out, and you know what your dog’s asshole feels like shit for brains, but my self-esteem has crashed. I spin out of their hold and walk towards the station with my head hanging down.
As I reach my bunk, I don’t feel anything but pain and embarrassment. How can guys be so cruel to someone that will always have their back? I know that I would put my life on the line for any of these guys, but would they do it for me? Am I a sitting duck when I go out on a call?
I’ve got to seriously think about my next steps.
Do I stop working and find something else to do? Why should I, though? I have just as much right to work as a firefighter as those guys do. I went through all the training just like they did. I finished at the top of my class amongst the women and some of the men. So why are they saying shit about me?
I am brought forth by yelling and grunting.
I rush down the stairs to see Drills on top of Carl, repeatedly pounding his fist into his face as he kneels on Carl’s thigh.
Eagle is holding back the other three guys. I run up and yell,
“ENOUGH!”
Drills lands one more punch and Eagle nods to the guys behind them.
