Chapter Thirty-Seven

ABIGAIL

The darkness envelops us as we lay on my mattress, limbs tangled and heart beats slowing back to their normal rhythms. Feeling cool, I look for the comforter and notice it’s missing.

“Are you cold?” Jaxon murmurs, and I feel the heat against my nape as he talks, warming me up all over again.

“Nope, you are enough to keep me warm.” I turn over to face him, despite the dark. “I don’t know what just happened, but it was fantastic. Very different from the first time.” I feel the blush creep up my cheeks, admitting my thoughts.

Jaxon chuckles against the pillow. “Honestly, I didn’t think about it like that. I’m just glad you’re finally here with me.”

My fingers gently make their way down to his now hard length and give it a loving rub.

Jaxon groans and lifts his hips, enjoying my touch. Then he grits his teeth and says, “Fuck, you’re insatiable,” as my mouth envelops his hard cock.

I wink in agreement, making him mewl as I work on him.

I wake up to the alarm on my cell, showing that we’ve been asleep for a few hours after we had sex. Tapping the snooze button, I swiftly get out of bed to meet the rising sun.

“You’re up early. Thought you’d like to sleep in a little longer. Isn’t that the beauty of being your own boss?” Jaxon says, and I chuckle back at the comment.

I shrug and look over at him with a smirk. “Just because I work for myself doesn’t mean I should use the opportunity to be lazy. Besides, I feel more energized in the morning and don’t want to waste the energy.”

Jaxon rubs his eyes and looks at his own cell, successfully finding it in the pocket of his pants that are laying on the floor. “Fuck, Abi, it’s 6.30 in the morning!” He laughs and shakes his head. “Ah well, I’m up already so…”

For a moment, hearing him not finish the sentence, I am struck with insecurity, thinking he wants to leave already. Isn’t that what he did after sleeping with someone? I open my mouth and attempt to say something to cover up my nerves, but he is already out of my bed, and as naked as the day he was born, making his way into the bathroom, turning the shower on. “Want to join?”

My mouth turns into a smile, and the nerves disappear.

“Gladly!” I call back.

JAXON

The following week went by slowly, consisting mainly of Abigail and me fucking like rabbits.

We’re also heavily into writing our books, although we’re still hushed over the plots. I also need to find an agent to replace Greg and Tiffany.

I finally called my mom’s friend Melissa, who’s a literary agent. She’d offered in the past, but with Greg, there was no need. A few days after Abigail and I had magical sex–her words–I decided to growsome balls and get Melissa’s number. I was doubtful it was going to go anywhere, but she responded and offered to meet up with me to discuss the future prospects for my books over coffee.

What I didn’t expect was to be so damn nervous about the meeting, which, according to my watch, is in two hours. I’ve got everything ready on my laptop to show her, including copies of the books to give her, so she knows the quality of my work. Unlike Abigail’s being a novel, I am still sticking to the style of how I wrote before. I like the way I write, with a sense of humor mixed with real-life experiences. But not discussing promiscuity.

My cell pings just as I wipe my face, impressed with the smoothness right after a close shave.

Abi: Hey, want to catch up for lunch or drinks later?

Shit.

Abigail still doesn’t know about this meeting because I don’t want to get her hopes up. She needs to focus on her own writing, not mine. No need to get involved unless something comes out of today.

Me: Hey babe, sorry but I’m at a meeting this afternoon. I can come by tonight though?

Abi: Yeah, sure, no problem. See your sexy tush tonight ;)

I can’t help but smile. Since we overcame the rocky start of our relationship, she has opened up and become more relaxed with me. I sense a sexy, playful side of hers that I only saw at the beginning.

I send out a quick reply.
