He gives me a devilish smile and then gently takes hold of my hand and turns it over. I watch him as his finger drifts up and down gently across my wrist. “You know what I think, Abigail?”
Clearing my throat, I whisper, “What?”
He smiles as he leans in, lifting my hand and grazes his lips against my wrist, my pulse that is running wild. “I think we really should leave this place.”
“Where to?”
I can feel the lust as he whispers words that I really wish he wouldn’t. Yet, equally happy he does.
“Exactly where we both want to be.”
Shit, he’s unravelling me, and I am trying hard to avoid my attraction. I want to persevere, but my heart and brain seem to be suddenly aligning.
The way he spoke about empowerment made me see a different side to him. I saw genuine interest, otherwise he would have just said sweet nothings. I may have rolled my eyes, but deep down inside, it affected me and for the better.
I thought he was a little cocky, a ladies’ man and only trying to get in between my legs, but there is something more. This push and pull thing needs to end.
JAXON
Truth be told, I expected Abigail’s reaction to be likely an eye roll, or a quip about my standards of being a playboy. What I didn’t expect was for her to go silent, expression blank.
Based on what I know of her, I think she’s fighting us again. I give her a few seconds to sort out her internal struggle with giving us at least a night together, and whilst she does, I study her. Her pink braid sits over her shoulder, ending past her collarbone. As she runs her fingers through herfringe, I see them a pale pink and I can’t help suppressing a grin. I like it how she used the color to empower herself, rather than be bitter and go back to her natural color. My gaze lands on her face and I find a splatter of cute freckles on her cheekbones, something that I hadn’t noticed before. Her makeup is just the way I prefer it, not too much, but enough to highlight her features. But those green orbs, they are gorgeous enough on their own.
Abigail is refreshing and attractive without the heavy makeup. It’s a stark reminder of how different she is from the women I usually see.
I clear my throat and push away thoughts of my past.
“So, what’s it going to be, Abi?”
She nods, then takes her glass of wine and gulps the drink, finishing every single drop, then plants it back onto the table.
“Gosh, if only you weren’t so charismatic and sexy. Going on about me being bold.” She mumbles as she stands up, grabbing her cardigan and bag.
I, on the other hand, haven’t lifted my ass from the chair. In shock at her answer and the random bout of confidence. I didn’t even have to charm my way. I was literally complimenting her.
Finally, it’s happening. Time to bring on my A-game.
“You know, my vagina will not wait forever, Jaxon.” Abigail’s tone is serious, but I can see the playfulness in her eyes. Then her mouth curves and a laugh burst out of me. I’m really enjoying her outgoing personality.
“Well, we wouldn’t want her to be waiting for too long.” I smirk as I get up.
As we walk towards the door, I say my thanks to the waiter and add in that I paid via their menu app.
“I love these new type of payments. Make life so much easier when going out,” Abigail chirps on our way out, and it makes me smirk.
Yes, indeed. More time with the gorgeous woman here with me. More time to spend the night with.

One thing I’ve noticed about Queensland is that the speed limits are shit. It feels like the taxi driver is driving at the speed of my grandma. That, or he’s just a slow driver.
However, the needy atmosphere lights up the car and I look over to Abigail, who is playing withthe strands of her braid. I place my hand over hers and lean in, needing to stop her anxiety.
“I don’t bite.”
Well, unless she asks, but I’ll keep that part to myself.
She bursts out in a giggle and turns her head, lips a breath away from mine, and says,
