“Uh, what are you doing?”
She places the pen down and shoves her cell into her purse, then makes a cheshire cat grin as she says, “You can thank me later,” and shoves the paper in my hand.
I look down and see Jaxon’s name with a number written underneath.
Chapter Thirty-Four
JAXON
A week has passed since I saw Abi and my mind seems to hunger for more. I can’t stop thinking of that infectious smile and how she playfully taunted me, and especially when she’s irked by me. It’s worse at night, with my dick half cast as my brain plays tricks on me. It’s like I have to remind myself that it’s not really her. I may never get her again, in fact. But fuck, she looked so hot with her hair down and that high-waisted skirt encasing curves that looked perfectly delicious. The surprising part, as well as the best, is that she stayed back to talk to me.
I’m still shocked with myself, scratching my head, trying to figure out why I opened up to her that much. It’s unlike me.
But she needed to know there was a story behind my deceit. The person I was before writing.
I’m brought back from my stupor when I hear my cell bark out a tune. That damn annoying message tone Greg set up for me. He was always a mischievous joker. I should have seen something like that coming.
I grab the cell before its atrocious sound disturbs anyone else here in the library and check who messaged me.
Abigail: Hi, it’s Abigail.
Excitement reels through me, and I wait to see if there is anything else, but after a few seconds of no other messages, I quickly respond.
Me: Hey Abi. How are you?
Abi: I’m alright. Brain hurts from all the writing. What about you?
Me: Just at home typing up notes for my next book. It’s a game changer. I’m looking forward to it.
The cell pings again.
Abi: That’s great! I’m also writing a novel, but nothing like my previous one.Decided to leave book 2 for now and focus on another project. Really excited.
My mouth curves as I read the last message. That’s the same advice my cousin gave me, but at the time, I was too intoxicated to understand him. I recall the first book I tried writing when I was dating Natasha. It started off as a joke about how she was the total opposite of me and I tried writing a book about it, naming it ‘Opposites Attract’. It’s actually the one that flopped. Just like our relationship.
Initially, I planned on writing a sequel, but something changed, like a switch flipped. My mindset became focused on anything but slipping my dick into anyone that isn’t Abigail. No one knows what I plan on writing now. It’s a work in progress, but I have the main outline of what it will be about. I just don’t know whether I am ready to reveal it.
I look back down at Abigail’s text and respond.
Me: That’s great to hear :)
I type then stop, deciding to send a less over enthusiastic sounding message, but by the time I send it, she sends a response.
Abi: Wow, you took a while to respond. I wouldn’t have thought Jaxon Sunters getsdistracted when it comes to a lady lol. Penny for your thoughts?
Shit, she must have seen those little dots when I was taking my sweet ass time to reply.
Me: Lol, Abi, only you distract me, keeping me on my toes. I actually think carefully about what I send you haha.
Me: Penny for my thoughts? Okay, I’m thinking about how I find myself very interested in a sassy flamingo that came crashing into my life.
Nothing for a few moments, and I re-read the message, starting to over analyze it.
Shit. Did I go too far?
Abi: You and my hair! I think you have a fetish for pink hair :P.
Well, she didn’t laugh in my face, but she also dismissed the comment. But the man inside who loves crude humor can’t stay away from responding.
