“Don’t say that and put it out into the universe,” Jessi chides me gently. “Grab that huge, tall, muscular man by his huge cock and make it yours.”

I laugh. If she only knew how close that might be to the truth and that I actually agreed to having a baby. Jessi will freak out, so I don’t tell her just yet. In truth, I’m still freaking out that it’s happening… that I found a guy who’s really into me, who wants a family. It’s hard not to hyperventilate just thinking about it. I told him I needed some space to let it sink in before we talked about it too much, not to mention seeing if I get my period in a couple of weeks.

Jessi’s gaze is probing, curiosity etched on her face. “You’re thinking something,” she says, eyeing me intently. “Spill, what else happened?”

I try to deflect, scrunching up my face. “It’s nothing,” I say, turning back to my locker, but she’s relentless, like a gnat in my ear. “You can’t hide from me. I’ll be in your ear all day if you don’t spill. How can you leave your best friend out of the picture? I mean, I’m still a bit miffed you didn’t call me when your place got trashed, but I get it. Daxton’s bigger and scarier. So, you owe me.”

Her insistence is overwhelming.

“It’s nothing, really,” I repeat, but inside, my mind is a whirlwind, teetering on the edge of sharing everything. Something that still has me slightly shocked.

I attempt to escape the room, but Jessi, in her typical unyielding fashion, follows close behind.

“How can you keep a secret from me now?”

I whirl around, feeling cornered but also relieved to unload.

“Okay, fine, but don’t judge me...”

“I never judge you, babe.” She crosses her heart. “I love ya. Now tell me.”

“Fine.” Taking a deep breath, I struggle to find the words. “He said...” I hesitate, finding it hard to vocalize.

“He said what?” Jessi prods, not letting up.

“God, you’re going to make me say it...”

“Yep, I sure am.”

“He wants to breed with me, to get me pregnant,” I blurt out, glaring at Jessi to brace myself for her reaction. I hold my breath, my face burning up at just saying those words.

Her expression freezes for a moment, a mix of shock and amusement, then softens into understanding.

“Wow, that’s... a lot. But, fuck me, that’s hot. I wish a guy would say to me… I adore you so much, I want to make you pregnant.”

“Wait, you’re not freaked out? I am a bit.”

Jessi rolls her eyes. “As long as you’re ready for a family and he intends to stay with you, it’s beautiful.”

I nod, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Maybe I’m the conservative one here.

“And you want to know the crazy part? I wasn’t completely against the idea and told him to do it.” My voice is barely above a whisper, but Jessi hears every word.

“Wait, you’ve already done it?”

I bit on my lower lip, nodding my head.

She’s suddenly jumping up and down and hugging me.

“Eek, that’s so exciting. Now he better stick to his word, or I’m kicking his ass to the moon.”

I hug her. “Love you, babe, for always making me laugh and supporting me.” I let out a shaky breath, feeling a weight lifted off my shoulders at her acceptance. “I’m just nervous, Jessi. It’s all so fast, and with everything going on...”

She reaches out, grabbing my hands. “Life is fast, Amelia. Sometimes, you just gotta jump in and ride the wave. And Daxton, he’s clearly serious about you. This could be your chance at something real, something lasting.”

“Thanks.” Her words give me a glimmer of hope, a sense that maybe, just maybe, things could work out. “I needed to hear that.”

“Anytime, girl.” She grins, giving me a quick hug. “Now, let’s go handle this day like the badass women we are.”
