Lori glanced at Zane. He nodded.

“We’ve decided to call her Maisie after my mom.” She paused, and her eyes went to Laurella. “And Ella. After you.”

Laurella’s eyes filled with tears, and she pressed a hand over her heart. “Oh, you guys. I’m honored. What a beautiful gift.”

She glanced at Calum, and a silent conversation passed between them. He dipped his chin.

“Of course, that poses a dilemma,” Laurella continued, a smile feathering her lips.

“What kind of dilemma?” Lori asked.

Laurella reached for Calum’s hand and placed it on her stomach. “I guess we’d better pray it’s a boy.”

A microsecond flashed by, and then Lori squealed and Zane shot out of his chair to pull his best friend into a hug. “About fucking time.”

“We weren’t planning to tell you,” Laurella said. “This is your day.”

“Rubbish, it’s our day.” Lori grinned and reached for Zane. He settled beside her on the bed and slid an arm around her shoulder. “Oh, just think, if it’s a boy, they might grow up and fall in love.” She grinned. “It’s wonderful news, isn’t it, Zane?”

He pressed a kiss to the top of her head, peered into his daughter’s crib, and then smiled up at his best friends.

“Greatest day ever.”

We were meant to be, he told me. Destined. Nothing could ever tear us apart. What a load of bullshit that turned out to be.

Benji Jones broke my heart and never looked back. The last thing I expect is to land on his doorstep five years later with nowhere else to go.

As if that isn’t bad enough, the grungy rocker of my past happens to be my new boyfriend’s brother.

Even worse? Now that life has forced us back together again, I can’t stop thinking that maybe fate wasn’t done with us after all.

Charlie was going to be my everything, until she wasn’t anymore. I thought she was out of my life forever, but I was wrong.

Now she’s back, tempting me with a past I thought I’d put behind me.
