He opened his eyes and grinned. “Yes. It’s a bit overwhelming when it feels like our souls are messing together. It gets better every time.”
She nodded.
He tipped them to the side, but he didn’t pull out of her. She shivered when his hand slid up and down her back as he cuddled her against his chest.
“How are you doing?” he asked. “Are you okay?”
She raised her head and smiled at him. “Yes. Thank you for letting me be the boss.”
“Don’t expect that to happen a lot.”
“I won’t. I like it when you’re in charge better.” She would never be the type of woman that needed to make the rules. She was the type to follow them.
“Rest for a minute, Sweetheart. I want us to take a bath.”
“I’d love that,” she said.
He tapped her chin with his fingertip. “I know. I also don’t want you sore. How about pizza later?”
“Can I have cheese?”
She giggled when he rolled his eyes.
“Yes. We’ll get you a boring pizza, and I’ll get another.”
“Thank you, Daddy.”
He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “You’re welcome.”
Chapter Twenty
Sebastian started to doze as he held her close to him. His mind kept going over everything that happened in the last few hours to make sure they’d gotten everything out.
The one thing they needed to discuss was children. Lacey had told him how quiet she had gotten when it was brought up, and he had noticed the same thing.
“I’m going to get the water going, and I’ll be back to get you.”
She nodded and closed her eyes.
He could tell from her breathing that she was falling asleep, and he let her. He’d give her a few minutes to rest before he bathed her. He called in the pizza order and knew it would take about forty minutes to get there, so they had time.
He showered quickly before starting to fill the tub. He put in a generous amount of bubble bath and watched it grow until it resembled a cloud.
Sage will be happy. She always begged for more. When the tub was halfway filled, he went back into the bedroom and gently picked her up. He grinned when she mumbled but didn’t wake up.
He stepped into the tub and carefully sat down. The water was up enough to cover them, so he turned it off before arranging her in front of him and between his legs. He reached for one of her scrunchies and put her hair up, so they didn’t have to take the time to wash it. He’d do that in the morning when they showered.
She started to move a little, so he let her wake up at her own pace.
She twisted to the side and looked up at him. “Thank you for the bubbles, Daddy.”
He kissed the top of her head. “You’re welcome. Let’s soak for a bit, and then I’ll wash you.”
“Do I get to wash you?” she asked.
He shook his head and smiled. “No. I showered before I started the bathtub.”
He tapped her nose with the tip of his finger when her lower lip came out in a pout. “That won’t work. I want you washed and comfortable before the pizzas come. I already ordered them.”
