“For?”

“I have to change his bandages. You know, I had to stay over there last night to monitor him because he had such a high fever.”

“No shit?”That sounds bad.“Are you going to stay over again tonight?”

“Nope,” she smiles. “Aside from the fact that I hate his fucking guts, he’s doing better this morning. He’s ambulatory and—”

“He’s what?”

Lara laughs, “I mean, he can walk and he’s not bedridden. His fever is gone. I stocked his kitchen with food and changed his bed sheet this morning. I also left his next dose of meds. I’ll go change the bandages and then I’m going back to the clubhouse.”

“Okay, cool.”

“Oh! You know what else? I just remembered.” Lara raises her brow.

“What?”

“I did something mean! I took all his booze away!”

Shit.“You sure that was a good idea?”

“Of course, it was! You can’t heal bones if you’re drinking the wayhedoes. Alcohol consumption weakens your bones.”

“Let’s hope Chase agrees with you.”

We finish eating and I pay the bill, then hold hands on our way out the diner.

Lara gives me a kiss and says, “Race you!’ Then runs to her car.

Chapter Seventeen

Chase

Where the hell are they?!

I know I had at least ten bottles in here! Even the empty ones are gone!

Dom must’ve told Dixon or Fletch to do this while I was sleeping.

Wait…It doesn’t even have to be them, it could have been anyone in the club who didn’t come to the Devil’s compound. Dom would’ve told them to clean my place out after we left.

But…he didn’t know that I was going to follow him.

No, no…he would’ve made the call after…after he’d told Nico to hold me.

Fucking asshole!

Maybe they missed one.

The fucking stretching and going through these cupboards is making my body feel like it’s on fire. I hope I don’t rip a stitch. Lara will be so pissed if that happens.

They couldn’t have found everything.

Maybe I put something under the kitchen sink or maybe there’s something half full somewhere.

They can’t have got it all.

They can’t have.
