We stroll in the night breeze like we’re in Paris…cruising the Champs-Elysées after a fancy dinner—not that I’ve been, but I’ve often fantasized.
After a little while, Nick smiles at me, “This is nice.”
“It is,” I smile back and lean a little closer, linking arms. Nick is awesome. He’s that crush that every sixteen-year-old girl has on their best friend’s brother.
He’s the stud you see coming inside with his shirt off…sweat dripping off after playing basketball with his friends.
The guy who looks so manly fixing his bike out by the garage.
The guy you wished took you to prom.
The guy you imagined your first time with.
All the girls were in love with him. I don’t know if Cassidy knew that.
We keep walking while I’m daydreaming and I’m thinking he’s going to kiss me, but we’re at the door to the clubhouse before I know it.
Nick opens up for us and we go straight to my room.
“Hungry?”
“Not really,” I say. “You?”
“Maybe later.”
We get to my room…and because I’m OCD about order, everything is perfect—a place for everything and everything in its place.“Make yourself comfortable.”
“Mind if I take off my shoes?”
“I insist,” I point at him like a mom. “No shoes on my bed!” I go into the bathroom to change into a long nightshirt—Yes…I still use those. Old habits die hard.
Nick yells to me while I’m there, “What do you want to watch?”
“There’s a newPredatormovie,” he probably hasn’t heard of it. I’ve been saving it to watch with someone who’d appreciate it. This is perfect! Nick showed us the first one from 1987. I’ve been hooked ever since!
“No shit?”
“Yeah!”
“What’s it called?”
I step out…fresh and relaxed and ready for a movie. “Prey. It’s set in the past and the Predator is hunting some native Americans. I heard it’s really good.”Science fiction and murder!
“Fuckin’ A! Let’s watch that!”
“And,” I go to the nightstand to open the drawer. “I have candy!” I reveal the M&M’s and Gummy-Bears.
“Awesome!”
Nick has already done away with his kutte and his shoes and is reclined on the bed. I lay down next to him with the candy and wait for him to cue up our movie.
I don’t think we could’ve had a‘first date’even if we’d tried—we know each other too well.
I like this though. We’ve never been alone in a ‘bedroom’ type situation, but he’s playing this like a gentleman so far.
“Ready?” he asks.
“Go!”
