She felt intensely aroused now, but she couldn't shake the feeling of anxiety in the pit of her stomach and she felt like instead of trying to understand what was causing it, she was just powering through, determined to break the physical and emotional barrier she felt existed between their old selves and what she wanted them to become.

Emilia noticed that the tall girl’s hand was sliding up and down faster now and the bearded man, who was breathing loudly and occasionally moaning, was looking over at them both, licking his lips.

She felt a sensation behind her and in the corner of her eye, she saw movement as the petite girl’s hands began to slide up Cassian’s thigh. Before she could say anything, the tall girl was standing up behind her and pulling Emilia upright, then turning her around slowly to face the bed.

The girl’s lips were suddenly next to her ear and Emilia blushed and shivered.

‘Would you like to touch my husband?’ she whispered, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. She was tugging on the zip of Emilia’s dress and sliding it down as the bearded man looked up at her, stroking his cock.

Then suddenly, she started to panic.

The anxiety in her stomach spread and took over her whole body, but it wasn't because of the situation, not entirely. It was something else. Something far more important to her.

She didn't want this girl to smudge the number that Amy had written on her breast, and then just like that, everything felt wrong.

I don’t want this, she thought. This was just sex and it wasn’t right. Not for them. She wanted them to have something more than this. She wanted them to feel a real connection, and she'd felt that, or at least something like that, with Amy and Mark.

She looked to the side and saw that the petite girl was moving her hands up Cassian’s chest and was leaning up to kiss him.

‘No,’ she said. The word came out of her mouth far more forcefully than she’d anticipated.

The girl behind her stopped, the dress zip half undone.

Cassian turned to look at her, and the petite girl stopped, looking disappointed.

‘I'm sorry, I don't think I'm ready for this,’ said Emilia, feeling shy all of a sudden. She moved away, her dress falling down over her shoulders.

The tall girl smiled kindly.

‘That's okay,’ she said. ‘It's hard the first time. You can just watch us if you want?’

Emilia shook her head.

‘No, thank you,’ she said as Cassian stood up looking concerned, watching as Emilia began to walk backwards away from them.

She reached the door and almost ran into the corridor and a moment later Cassian’s arm was around her shoulder, his hand doing up her zip.

‘Are you okay?’ he said.

‘Yes,’ she said. ‘I don't want this though.’

‘You liked them didn't you?’ he said. ‘Amy and Mark?’

She smiled at him. He knew exactly what she was thinking, somehow he always did.

She nodded.

‘I don't want it to be like this,’ she said. ‘Not with strangers.’

Cassian smiled.

‘Let’s get out of here,’ he said, winking.

Emilia took his hand in hers, and for a brief and fleeting moment, she thought about how it felt to hold Amy’s hand at the ball. How it felt soft and smooth, and electrifying, just like Cassian’s.

‘Let’s go,’ she said, and as she started down the stairs she understood what that feeling was now, the one she had felt before they headed up the stairs, and why it had felt new and exciting.

It was the start of a crush.
