I hiss. “Get the fuck out of here.”

Antonio holds up his hands in surrender, his lips twitching. “I’m just saying, call me if you change your mind.”

I know I won’t. Ever since I met Jane, I know no woman could come close to making me feel the way she does. She’s etched in my mind, flowing through my veins and she’s my every waking thought.

I don’t care if there are a hundred whores ready to offer themselves, I don’t want to be with anyone other than Jane. I’ll make sure to win her back when all of this is over. I’m sure I will.

Antonio leaves and I place a call to Dominic.

“What do you want?” he asks. I sense a tone of exasperation in his voice, as though he’d been busy and I just interrupted something.

“I just got off the phone with Victor.”

“What did he want?”

“He wants to meet tomorrow and negotiate the terms of our alliance,” I answer. “What do you think?”

“If he wants to negotiate anything, then I’m the one he should be meeting with, no? Why does he want to see you instead? Neither of us speaks for a moment. “Come home tomorrow, I’m not letting you go to the wolves alone.”

“I didn’t have any intention of going, brother.”

“You will go, and I’ll come with. If Victor set up a meeting, then he has something up his sleeve.”

I undo the first button on my shirt. “Isn’t that the very reason we shouldn’t meet him?”

Dominic scoffs. “He’s preparing something, and the only way we can know what he has in store for us, is by meeting him.”

“I had Antonio put a tail on him.”

“I’ll have Dante tighten security for Elena and the kids. Do you have an idea where Vincent is? That kid hasn’t visited in months.”

“He said something about a charity trip somewhere, but that was two weeks ago. He should be in New York by now.”

“Call him, tell him to meet us at home tomorrow. We don’t know what Vincent is after yet, we can’t afford to be careless.”

“I will.”

“One more thing. The detective, where is she?”

I think carefully before I answer. Dominic may have a weak spot for family, but he sure doesn’t consider Jane family and wouldn’t hesitate to take her out if she poses a threat to us. “She found out about Victor Valentes.”

“Does anyone else know about your relationship with her?”

Aside from Antonio and Dominic, no one does. “No.”

“She’s your woman, keep her safe and makes sure she doesn’t get involved.” He pauses for a moment. “I’ll like to meet her when all of this is over.”

My chest constricts. “I’m not certain she would like to meet you.”

“Why is that?”

“She found out the truth and she hates me.” That doesn’t mean I won’t try to win her back. She is mine. Only mine.

“Sort your shit out, will you? We’re at war with the Camorrista, I don’t want you sulking over a woman until all of this is over.”

“I’m not sulking, Capo.”

“Good to know. See you tomorrow.” He hangs up.
