She sucked in a deep breath and wantonly squeezed her thighs together, effectively trapping his hand.

‘Thing is,’ he said with a small helpless gesture and an innocent look, ‘sometimes I just have to have dessert first.’

She reflected desire back at him. Suddenly all patience was lost. They kissed and kissed again, her passion and happiness effervescent, sparking. She twisted against him, wanting to drive him as crazy as he did her.

‘There’s only one thing in the world I want more than you in my arms right now,’ he said, his voice sounding rough.

‘What’s that?’ she asked breathlessly.

‘Younakedin my arms right now.’

‘I think that can be arranged.’

‘I was hoping you might say that.’

Action was instantaneous. She pulled her sweatshirt and tee shirt over her head at the same time and stood just in bra and jeans. He yanked his tie off before taking over immediately, reaching for her, ravishing her. She fought with the buttons on his shirt, undoing them and slipping it off together with his jacket. He was gorgeous. Their lips remained locked while they hastily undid belt buckles and buttons and tried to kick off jeans and trousers.

He laughed hungrily. ‘Shoes, darling. Shoes.’ He bent and slipped off hers before hurriedly attending to his own. He couldn’t move fast enough for her. She needed to hold him close. Finally freed from their clothing, they literally fell onto her bed in a tangle of limbs. He held her firmly, using his mouth to explore every inch of her. She fought his grip as she tried to do the same to him. It was frantic and passionate, both desperate for fulfilment.

‘I can’t get enough of you,’ she confessed feverishly as she pressed kisses across his chest. He was driving her wild. She wanted everything, all of it right now, but at the same time she wanted to savour it, cherish every moment. The dilemma was driving her crazy.

‘It’s okay, beautiful.’ He shushed her with a deep kiss. ‘We have for ever.’

The kiss sealed them and their rhythms matched. He was right. He was her lifelong mate and this was the first dance of many more to come. They teased each other until, unable to wait any longer, he settled his weight over her and she sighed with contentment as he pushed inside. She would never have enough of this.

She lifted a hand to frame his face as they both stilled to savour the moment. ‘I love you.’

His mouth moved over hers—a tender torment as his body began a slow and welcome rhythm. ‘You’re everything to me.’

He gathered her closer and together they moved slowly at first, and then with increasing ferocity until they were both past the point of tolerance and with joyous cries they tumbled together from the heights.

Lying twisted, still connected, panting, she had to ask. ‘I can’t believe you love me. Are you sure? It’s not just because of the babies?’

He gathered a section of her hair and pulled on it teasingly. ‘Silly. I’m excited about the babies, of course I am. But it’s you I love, Lissa. I can’t even imagine them yet. It’s you I want. You I don’t want to live without.’

‘But why didn’t you tell me?’

‘How could I? I really wasn’t sure where I stood with you, Lissa. I didn’t want to freak you out and send you running by declaring undying love for you when you were still learning you could trust me. I didn’t want to overwhelm you.’

Her eyes smarted. She had been such an idiot. Letting her fears and insecurities from her past colour her judgment of him. She’d almost walked away from the best thing ever to happen in her life. Rory. Okay, so it hadn’t exactly been slow and steady as she’d once thought she wanted. It had been fast and furious and much, much better.

‘Don’t cry, beautiful, please don’t cry.’ He tilted her head back so he could see into her eyes.

‘Happy tears.’

‘Oh. Well. That’s okay, then.’

They lay close again. She felt complete and relaxed until another thought needled into her mind.

‘Rory, what are your family going to say?’ Terrified about meeting them, she waited anxiously for his answer.

His smile turned wicked. ‘They can’t wait to meet you. My sister’s been hounding me for ages.’

‘Ages? She’s known about me for ages?’ She sat up and looked down at his amused expression.

He nodded. ‘I had to return her car to her that first night, remember? She took one look at my face and knew something was up. Immediately guessed it was a woman, and has been crowing to my mother since that she knew first.’

‘What about the babies? Will they mind about that?’ He really laughed that time. ‘Hell, no, they’ll be thrilled. Mum has been nagging me for some time about settling down, having a family, not wasting all my energy on my career. I’m pushing thirty, you know.’ He said it in such a way she knew he was mimicking his mother and she laughed.
