“Everything is going to be alright,” Anita promised me and took my hand in hers. “No matter what.”
“I know.” I told her.
The doors opened and I let go of Anita’s hand so I could make my way down the hallway.
Once I got to my father’s office, I used my key to unlock it and I threw the door open, not even bothering to knock. Knockingwas for respect of privacy and I no longer had any respect for my father.
I saw him right away sitting at his desk going over paperwork. He looked up when I came in and I saw red. I charged at him, getting to him before he could even stand up, and punched him square in the nose. I heard it break when my fist connected and a spray of blood erupted from the flesh beneath my knuckles. I had caught him off guard which meant he hadn’t stood up so he slumped in his chair, holding his nose.
“What the fuck, Niero! What was that for?” He demanded and looked up at me with blood pouring between his fingers.
“That was for mom.” I told him and punched him again. This time in the eye. I felt that crack too and he let out a scream that both scared me and excited me at the same time.
“Your mother?” He asked. It was muffled because of his hands in front of his face, but I could still hear him just fine.
“Yes. My mother. Olivia SIena whom you murdered because she had an affair with Anita’s father, which was why you wanted Anita to pay Lorenzo’s debt. Because you can’t do anything to him, but you’ll do whatever you want to people you deem disposable.” I explained and went to hit him again, but he ducked and rolled back in his chair, escaping me. He got out of the seat and went around the other side of the desk in an attempt to get out of the room, but Anita was waiting for him. To my surprise, she gave him a hell of a punch to the side, one to the chest and another to the head before kicking his legs out from under him. Her kickboxing skills were certainly handy for putting him on his ass.
I walked over to where they were and kneeled on my father’s chest, making sure to dig my knee into his sternum.
“Go ahead, tell me how you didn’t do it. That it was an accident, that something happened.” I taunted him, but he shook his head, spitting blood at me.
“No. I admit it. I killed the worthless whore and buried her in a shallow grave so the animals would eat her. I have no problems admitting what I did, the bitch deserved it, just like Lorenzo’s brat deserves everything you give to her. She’s just as worthless as her father and as much of a whore as your mother…”
I didn’t know if he would have continued speaking if I hadn't snapped. I have no regrets about punching him repeatedly in the mouth, and the nose of the temples. I beat his face in so long and hard that by the time I was done, his face was nothing but a bloody pulp. He lay beneath me, twitching, as I destroyed him, blood covering my hands and my shirt as well as what was left of his face and his clothing. I beat him past the moment of his last breath and continued, pouring all of my hate and anger over the last few years into it. I let go of all of it, letting him feel whatever I could make him feel.
Eventually, I felt Anita’s hand on my shoulder and I looked up to see her gorgeous hazel eyes. She smiled sadly at me and took my hands in hers.
“My love, it’s over, okay? You can stop now. He's dead, Niero. Your father is dead. All you’re doing now is hurting yourself.”
“I’m not.” I promised and looked down at the mess I had made. “I’m letting it go.”
I did get up though to let her know I was okay and I let her lead me to the doorway. The hall was full of people, some of whom I recognized, others I had never seen before, but the ones I did know, I knew were a part of the mafia. My father’s men. My men now. In this world, you kept what you killed, which meant I was their new Don.
“Don Dante Siena murdered his wife for cheating on him and he lied about it for a decade to his only son. I found him guilty and extracted my form of justice from him. Dante Siena is no more and I am now the Don of the syndicate. Spread the word. If anyone wishes to contest my claim, tell them to take a longhard look at my father lying on the floor of his office and then tell them to come find me. If they are still against it of course.” I looked over and pointed at one of the guys I knew the best. His name was Andrew and he was part of the tech team. “Andrew, call a clean crew and have that taken care of once everyone takes a look.”
Andrew nodded. I squeezed Anita’s hand and started walking down the hall. I waited a few minutes and heard the first screams. Anita and I kept walking until we got back into the elevator.
“Are you alright?” Anita asked me and leaned into my side, bumping her shoulder into my arm. I looked down at her and nodded, smiling sadly at her.
“I’m not okay, but I will be.” I promised her.
And I kept my promise.
It took me a long time to heal from all that rage. Anita and I spent a lot of time in gyms and running around our land to get some of my aggression out. I joined Anita’s classes and accidentally broke two of the punching bags. Her students were impressed, but I just felt bad. I ordered 5 more just in case it happened again. Before the month was out, I had killed another one.
We also spent a lot of time in bed because sex was a guaranteed act to keep what had happened out of my head. When I was buried deep inside the woman I loved, everything was good. We made great use out of the basement and I introduced her to the world of whips and chains. She enjoyed it and so did I. I even let her tie me up once. I wasn’t a huge fan, but I enjoyed her enthusiasm.
Eventually, her father warmed up to me, but I had a strong feeling that it had something to do with the fact that I was now one of his business partners. It might also had something to do with the fact that I killed the man who had me kidnaphis daughter. Her mother loved me no matter what and now, I was invited over any time I wanted, with or without Anita. We decided that we would go once a month to catch up and enjoy a meal together. They keep asking when we are going to give them a grandchild and so far, both Anita and I are very certain that we don’t want any kids. For now. Maybe in the future, we’ll revisit the topic, but not for a long time.
Anita and I are having too much fun learning each other and dating.
On our first anniversary I proposed to her again and happily, she said yes. We started planning an actual wedding, which Anita and Stella are very excited about. Their plans might have us going bankrupt, but it will be worth it to see how happy she is.
Making Anita smile is my favorite thing in the whole world.
“What are you thinking about?” She asked me as we sat on the couch, drinking coffee and watching the news. She sipped her cup and snuggled closer to me. I put my arm around her and held her close.
“You,” I told her honestly and she laughed.
“You don’t have to lie. You could just say you don’t want to tell me.”
“I was telling the truth,” I said and leaned over so I could kiss the top of her head. “I was thinking about how much I love you Darling and how you’ve made me the happiest man in the world.”
“Awww, I love you too sweetie.” She sat up and grinned at me. “Do you want to watch Harry Potter again?”
I laughed and got up to get the disc and put it in the payer.
“Of course, my love. Anything for you.”
And the best part was, she knew I meant it.
