A light sea breeze ruffled Kain’s dark hair. “Tell me a bit about yourself,” he invited. “We should probably know a little about one another for our ruse to work.”

Why did her stomach contract at his words? Why did she feel so…disheartened? She had agreed to his terms and wasn’t under any illusion he’d feel any differently about them in the days to come.

He was giving her an opportunity too good to refuse. Nothing more, nothing less.

She scraped back her chair as she stood. “I’ve got a better idea.”

His eyes narrowed, then went wide as she clasped the hem of her abaya and lifted it up and over her head, leaving her in nothing more than the little yellow bikini. Her smile was tremulous when she threw the abaya aside and asked, “Fancy a spa?”

Chapter Four

Kain’s whole world tilted on its axis, then righted again at the vision in front of him. He’d seen loads of gorgeous women parading around on his yacht in a bikini, but Zania was a whole new level of stunning. Like a present wrapped up loosely to unveil the promise beneath.

His dick surged, all his good intentions, his restraint, coming undone. That he wanted her with such intensity, such need, shouldn’t be shocking to him, he’d wanted her even in her modest abayas and with everyone gossiping behind her back—and openly—about her. Now he wanted her ten times as badly.

He ached to have her.

But he sensed he had to take it slowly and earn her trust. Whatever it was she’d shared with Tabari had damaged more than her reputation, it’d damaged her trust, too. He’d seen the light fade from her eyes and wanted with everything he had to bring it back again.

“Well?” she prompted, her voice a little uncertain, less confident.

“A spa sounds perfect.”You’re perfect. He stood and took off his pants and T-shirt shirt. He kept fit and worked out, and looked after his body. He needed to stay sharp and healthy to be a good leader. And to give the woman he couldn’t keep his eyes off the loving she deserved.

But not yet. Patience was key. A pity keeping his hands off her wouldn’t be easy.

He walked with her to the spa at the end of the top flybridge deck, where turquoise ocean views spread out all around them. He pressed a button to activate the bubbles, then took her hand to help her balance as she stepped into the fizzing, warm water.

He swallowed hard as he drank in her gorgeous, full breasts that were enhanced by her tiny yellow bikini top, her flat stomach and the slight flaring of her hips, where the strings of her bikini were tied.

Utter perfection.

“This is lovely, so warm,” she said with a sigh as she sank into the bubbles.

He followed her, wanting nothing more than to drag her close and press their bodies together. That the spa was so intimate wasn’t helping his willpower. His dick was concrete and throbbing like an engine. He was only glad of the foamy bubbles covering his arousal.

He closed the space between them, and it took everything he had not to clasp her face and kiss her luscious lips. “Since I’ve yet to learn anything about you, let’s play a game. I’ll answer one question if you answer one.”

She smiled, her eyes glittering with challenge. “As long as I get to go first.”

He nodded. “Sure. But no cheating,” he added in a teasing tone.

She pressed the back of her hand to her brow, pretending to ponder. “Have you ever been in love?”

His pulse stuttered unnaturally, his whole body going taut. Did falling for the woman in front of him count? “No.”

She blinked. “That was…decisive.”

“What can I say? I’m fussy.” He grinned. “My turn.” He leaned close, taking her hands in his. “Haveyouever been in love?”

She sighed heavily, her lashes half-closing, as though hiding the truth. “Yes.No.Honestly, I’m not sure. I-I don’t trust my judgement anymore.”

His chest tightened.Tabari.Of course she’d given that asshole her heart. That he’d stomped on it and left her behind to deal with the fallout of their affair was exactly the kind of thing the lowlife would do. He was a piece shit.

He pushed back the dark emotion that wanted to throb tellingly in his voice. “Then trust I won’t hurt you,” he said quietly, but with utter conviction. “You’re a beautiful girl, inside and out. You deserve a man who treats you like a princess.”

Her eyes went dewy and her mouth parted. Then she snatched her hands back and said, “Except I’mnota princess. I’m the woman whose only claim to fame was being a sheikha’s best friend. A shame I broke every best friend rule that was ever written and now I’m alone.”

Kain shook his head. “You’re not alone.”You have me.“And you weren’t to blame. You were exploited by a much older man. He took advantage of your innocence and your trust.”
